Good morning Mojo it sounds like the op went well.
I would recommend taking the painkillers as you don't want to get into the pain spasms cycle like I did after my op.
I couldn't comment on whether that amount of pain after a relatively easy BM is normal after removal of a sentinel pile. But after LIS the pain from the first BM can hurt although not usually as much as you are describing. My BMs did end up causing pain at level 10 after LIS but that was because I had a flare and was having 6 BMs in an hour.
I would think losing blood is normal though as you will have had two incisions one for your LIS and one for the pile.
If you are worried then make sure you ask at the hospital tomorrow.
It will get better Mojo the first couple of days after an op can be traumatic but your body will heal and the pain will reduce dramatically over the next few days
Big hugs

Hi and thanks as usual. I AM taking both the painkillers big time. Called the hosp and spoke to the surgeon and she said to take Toradol if paracetamol and Tramadol not sufficient. But obv I need a prescription so will have to wait till follow up tomorrow. Yeah I know I'm a wimp but what will they do tomorrow? It's for medication but what does that entail exactly? If I'm still in this amount of pain don't know how I'll even get to the appointment.

My toddler is very cross with me too as have hadto stop breastfeeding all of a sudden. Sob.

Any recommendations for anti anxiety meds for tomorrow? They gave me some calming drops before being wheeled down to surgery yesterday and I was like: why can't I get some? Needed something like that during this entire AF hell. Will I recover from this anxiety?

Hun you are seriously not a wimp. This level of pain for any amount of time is not healthy for the prolonged periods that we have to deal with it's just torturous.
Could you ask for gabapentin it works wonders for me nothing else touched my spasm pain. Plus it's not an opiate do shouldn't cause constipation.
I'm not sure about anxiety meds as I have never had any but maybe a few Valium to see you through the next few days could help.
I doubt they will poke around down there tomorrow especially if it's an appointment for meds...it's probably because they don't like prescribing high strength painkillers in large amounts. They will hopefully just ask you what pain relief you feel you need and leave your butt alone.
You will recover from this anxiety Hun it's normal to be anxious when we are in pain for prolonged periods....pain releases stress hormones which if it continues for a while will cause stress and anxiety. Once the pain decreases so will the anxiety. It really can be a vicious circle with a fissure the pain hurts causes stress the stress releases cortisol which causes automatic muscles like the sphincter to tense up which then causes more pain. That's why it's so important to try and get on top of the pain.
You can do this Hun you have been through so much and you really are near to being healed and pain free. Just hold on a bit longer x

Hi missy.
Had op on Weds and even tho the next morning was bad by 1 pm the burning had eased off and I stopped taking tramadol. Had bm next day and...no pain! Some mild discomfort after. No heavy meds all day. Today just had bm and - again - no pain. The spasms STOPPED the instant I had the op. I feel reborn tbh. Had check up yesterday and surgeon said things are going swimmingly. They also removed huge sentinel pile which has given me immense relief. Am eating soluble fiber based foods, drinking tonnes of water and taking fibrogel.

Am in Italy.

Would wholeheartedly recommend surgery and wish I'd got it sooner.
So yeah. Do it. Your kids will benefit too as I'd become such a mummy monster. I was in the park with them again yesterday already and doc even said I can go jogging again if I want but no cycling!

I really feel for you as I had a major fissure flare up when my daughter was tiny. Should've asked for surgery then. The surgeon said mine would never have healed on its own.

Don't suffer needlessly anymore.

Was gonna update today anyway to let you nice boardies know of my vast improvement in recovery.

That's great you give me hope its had to enjoy this special time when I have a fissure.
Why did he think it wouldn't heal by its self?
How long did you have your fissure?
Did it come an go monthly?
Did they stitch the lis?
Did they seal or do anything to the fissure? Like remove the scar?
Dhanksid you have the surgery done by a specialist or a general surgeon? Here in nz it costs $3000-$6000 nzd for lis to be done by a specialist.
Thanks so much.

Hi missy
wouldn't heal on its own as too chronic, too much scar tissue and had cut the muscle. Had mine 3 yrs 5 mths exactly. Initially thought it was hems..little did I know. Flare ups coincided with bouts of hard stools, stress and not taking care of myself enough - emotionally and physically. You'll know about that having little ones. They burnt the fissure with a laser (cauterised it). Op done by proctologist surgeon - free. Mine was posterior lateral. Cut the sentinel pile out too and other yukky sticking out stuff that they call "marisca" in Italian - guess they mean hems.

Please don't suffer anymore. I'm just about to go to my son's sports day with mild burning but no big deal. Prior to op would've had spasms and been no good to anyone for hours. xx

Is a proctologist a general surgeon? I wonder if I ask my doctor if he can get me in with a specialist for free. I'm scared of the few days post op
