Got my Diltiazem and kinda afraid....

Postby mjfarrell5959 » 15 Jun 2010, 14:37

What can I expect? Those who have used it please let me know.
I am using my first little dab tonight and it came with finger cots and it's obviously strong stuff. Have never used anything like this before and I am really hoping it works but am wondering if there are any changes I can expect to notice.
Will start using three times a day starting tomorrow but just once tonight since I just got it.

Most people don't really feel much from diltiazem. Personally I got a tiny bit dizzy at first, but that didn't persist for very long. AFAIK most people who have bad responses to diltiazem complained of localized irritation which stops when you discontinue its use.
Of the ointments, generally diltiazem and nifedipine have the least (almost none that are noticeable for most people) side effects. Nitroglycerin is famous for the headache it causes but even that is easily tolerated with time.
I think you'll be good to go. I didn't even use finger cots to apply mine, although using them isn't a bad idea (I just found them clumsy to use).

I'm starting week 2. No real improvement. It's just that the spasms last less longer than previously. I usually wait for my pain to disappear to put on the diltiazem otherwise it stings really bad.
