To soon for surgery?

Postby Paingoaway21 » 09 Jul 2017, 01:36

I have had pain that sounds very likely to a fissure from all my reading I have done. I had hemhorroids back in March/April and in June I started with what is described in so much reading I've done as fissure pain. I have pain almost every day in one sort or another. Some days I have minimal pain and others excruciating pain to which I cannot sit, lay, get comfort. I recently saw a specialist and he suspects a fissure but said he would have to go in and see what's going on and fix whatever he finds. Is this normal for your first visit to the specialist to be set up for surgery already? I literally got scheduled for this procedure a week later and am dreading the pain that is to come from it. I've tolerated excruciating pain with this and hemhorroids but am terrified to get this surgery done. As I read I feel that not all options have been explored such as certain creams that I have not tried that relax the muscle. Should I first ask for this before surgery? I'm so conflicted. Feedback is much appreciated.

sounds like a plan...at least you went to a surgeon...ask him to use Exparel..non narcotic local anestesia...last for 3 days ..i went to a gastro...he scheduled me for a colonoscopy...guess what the cleanse was incomplete...he cauterized my papilia and stitched the large one...his staff forgot to give me this heart cream/salve...so i went back n got it while he attempted to take stitches out..anyway i went to aCRS....he was miffed that the gastro gave me a colonoscopy...he commented and how were the results? knowing the answer...i think the gastro was in it for the $$...make sure you take the time to remove as much as u can from your bowels...maybe take a vacation from eating for a couple of days...constipation is the next obstacle...still living on pain meds since thursday...good luck to u!!

Definitely ask for more conservative methods like ointments or botox before resorting to surgery. It's still early days for you and unless your fissure is so bad that it will only heal by surgery, find a doctor who'll be more conservative in his/her approach.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

Thank you guys! I actually did go through with surgery today and the experience still terrifies me for days to come. I went in for surgery at 10am was out by 11:30 and discharged from hospital by 1. I have not had harsh pain yet, just a few VERY harsh jabs in the anal area that come here and there. I have yet to have a bowel movement but can feel it coming soon. They sent me home with Percocet. I know that's a comstipator so I'm dreading both being on them as well as being off of them. Have been eating minimally but very fiberfull in hopes to not be constipated, drank 16 cups of water throughout day to hopefully also aid in this. I am very gassy for some reason hope that passes soon.
It worries me that I haven't had much pain and wonder if this means hold on because it's coming..
thank you for your support.

@payne4me hi there I am female. Yes I notice that the pressure is intense from the pressing of bowels. I was scared to take milk of magnesia but on my 3rd day w/o a bowel movement I did indeed take it. I was able to go pain free after that. However, the pain afterwards was pretty harsh and lasted throughout the day. Today is day 4 and I finally went a day without pain meds with minimal pain. I notice I am not as gassy as I was the first couple of days and bowel movements are a little smoother. I'm still scared to sit down not sure when it's okay to sit so I walk, stand and lay down a whole lot. Another thing I noticed was an odor from inside my anal area that smells I'm very clean and soak at least 3-4 times a day as well as wash after any. Peel movement I don't know what the odor is smells like a healing wound if that makes sense.

Paingoaway21...I was doing pretty good til yesterday...i had a rather large BM...which you know caused the blood the discomfort all day...I called the surgeon's nurse today to tell her my setback...Im taking 3 colace and a fiber supplement plus eating mostly vegetables and love the "Ole" brand fiber EXTREME wraps they contain like 47% of the recommended daily fiber you need (gotta look for the one that says fiber on the wrapper...they have several kinds) she suggested i try changing to Metamucil...and maybe try different things...Not to be gross but my stool looks good
http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorder ... tool-scale #4 So i dont think that's the issue...its just when the time is near...I cant remove it without bearing down and yup reopen the fissure....You know the fear and anxiety involved with "D' time...i hope for your continued success...keep in touch~~~
