Abdominal Discomfort

Postby lytefall » 23 Oct 2017, 08:49

Anyone get abdominal discomfort related to the sphincter spasm?

I am getting anal pain and spasm during the day. I also have epigastric bloating and a gnawing discomfort, along with basically passing no gas during the day. Usually late day (if I haven’t had multiple BMs during the day) I start to get some spasm relief and start passing gas. Usually around the same time I start getting some slow relief of the abdominal discomfort as well.

Could this all be due to the spasm making it difficult to pass gas and have complete BMs?

The epigastric discomfort has been going in for over 2 years. I have had multiple tests for the bloating and everything is negative. I had my gallbladder out 4 months ago because I was having attacks since nov 2016. They attributed the bloating to the gallstones and said it was probably a warning sign of the impending gallbladder attacks but once the gallbladder was out it didn’t solve that specific discomfort.

I don't experience this but I came across this product that I bought recently. I haven't used it yet but it's supposed to help with a range of symptoms. My problem is an occasional feeling of early fullness while eating. You can check it out and see if it will work for you https://www.amazon.com/FDgard-Functiona ... B01IHWRS3O

My own experiences with abdominal discomfort is that it's the abdominal discomfort that causes the anal pain, and not the other way around. Do you perhaps have IBS?

My GP hypothesized that I may have IBS-D years ago but I went to a GI doc that said it was unlikely and that family doctors are too quick to call every intestinal complaint IBS.

Hmm, I've also had my gallbladder removed due to gallstones, but gallstones don't generally cause bloating anyway seen as it's bloating is in your gut. Some specialised doctors can be real stick-up-the-butts, to me it sounds like you have IBS. Does your belly ever get swollen? like a balloon?

No not ever. Just the bloating sensation. I don’t ever have actual physical bloating.

Have you tried antispasmodics? Like Buscopan? I get a feeling in my gut like I'm bloated like crazy, but I never pass any gas, and I can have it for weeks at a time, but antispasmodics seem to really calm it down. Tends to be the Peristalsis action of the muscles, the ones that drive food through your gut, can go into spasm which causes the bloated feeling and increases the pressure in your abdomen, which then leads onto anal pain and spasm because it's being pushed down.
