No more fissure pain but irritation after BM

Postby sdk96 » 11 Aug 2018, 10:22

hello everyone.

Lurked this forum for awhile and wanted to share my story and ask a question...

First... Im a 33 year old male and back in February I developed a fissure that was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. About 2 hours after a BM I would be in agony for like 4 hours. I finally saw a doctor and was prescribed with nifedipine cream and he told me to use restoralax to soften stool.

In short, that changed my life... I was 'cured' in about a week. Back in July I had a few loose BMs after a night of crap food and alcohol and bled a bit. I was terrified the fissure opened up but it was just irritated for the day.

That being said, my anus still feels a bit raw/irritated after almost every BM. Hard to describe it otherwise. Usually a shower helps and it goes away after awhile. I assume I'm still healing or something? My stool is soft almost every time (as it should be).

Anyone experience this type of thing after their fissure healed?

I'll add that sometimes the irritation is itchy. Feels like I have to wipe again like 30 min after a BM.

It's never really painful though.

And I always lubricate with nifedipine before a BM. Wondering if I should try something else?

Do you have that stinging/throbbing/burning or itchy pain after bm?

No stinging or throbbing pain. That was when I had an active fissure and was in agony.

This just feels irritated and somewhat sore. And its not every time.

Can you lube up a gloved finger and gently examine your anus health?

I was in a similar boat where I thought I'd beat the fissure because it didn't hurt during BM's or much at all during the day but I'd feel raw down there for a while after a good crap. I finally did a digital exam and felt that the backside of my anus was very off. Painful to touch. Super painful to turn the finger at all even though it was super lubed. A healthy anus can easily handle a lubed index finger in it. I finally saw a CRS who took one look and said, "Yep you have a chronic fissure and two sentinel piles. Currently 1st week post op if you wanna check out my status in the surgery section of the site. Best of luck. Be aggressive on getting this resolved.

I still apply nifedipine and there's no pain

I saw my doctor last week and he recommended staying in a regular dose of restoralax and nifedipine 3 times a day. Checking back in a month. I've had some improvement. I think the issue is having harder stools irritating the healed area (that perhaps isn't 100% yet)
