I have been trying (a lot!) to have softer stools as I currently have a fissure that I am trying to heal. I saw a caring naturopath a few days ago who thought I was doing a lot of the right things...but suggested higher doses of those things: natural calm magnesium citrate (was taking 2 teaspoons(400mg), he has me now at 3 teaspoons (600mg), taking fish oils, and slippery elm powder in water.
Today I had the most painful/hard BM resulting in some reinjury of the fissure.
Does anyone have more tips? I wonder if I can go even higher on the Magnesium or if that is a bad idea?
It is wild too me that my high vegetable diet, lots of olive oil and taking things that are meant to have a laxative effect is not guaranteeing regularly soft stools

thanks so much!
