Fissure back with a vegenance, or something else?

Postby jis76 » 25 Jun 2019, 12:31

So I posted on here almost 7 years ago! Was able to really manage my fissure symptoms for years via Nifediene ointment, sitz baths, and Miralax. I had a complete remission of my fissure for a few years. It would eventually come back, but then I was use a bit of nifedipiene and things would seem to resolve after a couple weeks. Recently I had about 6 good months and thought I was really good (btw, a
But I'm back... new symptoms now, and waiting to see CRS in a couple weeks for evaluation (sucks that it takes this long). Had a VERY difficult BM a few weeks back. Was pushing more than I knew I should, but had a flight to catch and I forced things (as I've learned over the years, this is the worst thing you can do is push out a BM).
So now about 3 weeks later, I have very little blood in my stool. Pain on PM for a few seconds, but a dull ache about a half hour later that lasts for most of the rest of the day. Not much a difference between sitting and standing. Really effecting my life for the first time. When I had the fissure it would hurt a bit after BM, but pain would subside pretty quickly. I am dealing with a dull ache almost all day, and it's effecting my work and family life. Really sucks...
Anyhow... curious if anyone has any idea about this dull ache... is it spasms from the fissure? is it an abcess or hemroid? I know I need the CRS to figure this out, but having to wait 3 weeks for this is really sucking...
It's funny now that I'm really hoping that this is a fissure and I can get LIS. I always seem so tight down there, and think the LIS may be do me a ton of good and might even be able to get off the Miralax (which I've been on for 7 years). Hard to believe I am finally looking forward to having this really taken care of.... and hoping for the best in a surgical or medical outcome.
BTW... promise to post on all updates, surgical or otherwise... i know it helps seeing other peoples outcomes and experiences.

So sorry to hear this. I really hope your CRS can help you out. In the meantime take care of yourself and focus on what you can do to support your healing. I’m a new sufferer but have experienced a lot of the stress around this issue. I’m trying red light therapy!

Hey jis, if you managed it for so many years i believe you have what ot takes to continue doing it successfully. I think 3 weeks is too early to judge. Obviously you need a specialist to look and asses the situation but until then don't think about the worst. I really hope you don;t have to go for LIS, the older we get the more relaxed that area becomes which is a benefit for fissure sufferers.

I am just so tired of it after so many years (Really I think I've been dealing with this since my mid 20s, and I'm now in my early 40s). Before I was trying everything and anything to avoid surgery. The pain was never bad enough that I thought that I should subject myself to surgery. It hurt to poop on occasion, and a bit disturbing to see the blood, but a few minutes of pain in the morning... not the worse thing in the world. The pain would always go away.

The thing that is bugging me now is the pain won't seem to go away until about 12 hours after I bm now. Also the constant baths (god... do you know how many books I've read in the bath tub). It's ridiculous and taking me away from my family. I keep coming back to the hope of not having to deal with this as I get older.

Granted... give a few weeks of being pain free, I may reconsider this stance. I do think the CRS can weigh in and give an objective opinion given my history whether LIS is appropriate. Really curious if it could help me also get off the Miralax...

In the meantime takings lots of baths, eating lots of quinioa, oatmeal and veggies, and praying for the pain to go away... today is a better day :) Hoping that everyone else has a pain free day!

Maybe try less fiber and see how you feel? Quinoa and oatmeal are really fiber rich foods. For some people, like me, transitioning to low fiber brought relief and healing.
