Gauze and Healing

Postby LiamA » 25 Oct 2019, 15:41

A few days ago I had a rather rough bowel movement and today I believe that it caused an anal fissure. I was wondering how good is gauze in helping the wound heal.

What do you mean by gauze? Are you thinking of putting a cream on the gauze and covering your anal opening while not using it?

I wouldn't put cream on it. Take a piece of large gauze and roll it up and place it somewhere around the opening so any bleeding wouldn't get on underwear and maybe keep the wound free of infections.

I can see how it might prevent blood from reaching the underwear, but would worry that the gauze might chafe the wound if it was dry. Many people on this forum have used panty liners to prevent underwear staining. Have you consulted a doctor yet? You should do so, to get a firm diagnosis.

Yes go to doctor

Bleeding usually only happens with a BM
It shouldn’t drip after

1) chachacha, interesting about the panty liners. They might not help me much since I wear boxers.

2) hurtinend, maybe it is then related to something else that I'm going through. I saw a doctor earlier this year about what I thought was an anal fissure but was more or less a pilonidal cyst.

Gauze will help to keep it dry, but change it often. You want to keep it relatively dry to heal.

Okaybum, I change it out twice a day maybe more just to be on the safe side.
