Referral !

Postby Guest » 11 Jun 2008, 09:18

Hi everyone,
Just back from seeing my GP,
I had a good chat with her, She does agree that I need to have the fissure re evaluated and can understand my concerns about another exam, she told me to raise these concerns with the consultant, it will be the same consultant as last time!!! ….Not so good !
I have asked husband to come along this time and hopefully together we will be able to understand him.
She did say the pinching and tightness in the fissure area could well be healing but guesswork isn’t giving me the right answers !
The referral is in the post so its case of waiting now….
I will mention the Childs anuscope !!
Thanks to you all for being here

Sure wish you could get another consultant. I like the idea of your hubby being there, two heads are better than one!
Hope it all goes well and you get some real information you can use!

Tab,
Husbands can often think of things the wives don't when we are involved with exams and talks with the doc. I think we are more unnnerved as it is OUR body that is being poked and discussed!! My husband had good comments when I saw my favorite GI doc, and the three of us jointly viewed my colon on the doc's screen (barium test pictures taken previously). Good luck and will send you good vibs to try to be relaxed. Let us know how it goes. Maybe you could do deep breathing during stressful part of exam (I know that is not always easy).
Take care,
Cheryl

how long will you have to wait?
would it be an option to go privately? I got seen really quickly when I went privately, goodness knows how long the NHS wait would have been. Also they seem to have more time and patience when you pay them!

Maybe valium for the exam :pale:
Hi Val,
I could not afford to go private, i wish i could
The plus, i think is that Scotland seems to have a faster system here ,
but yes still the NHS

it couldnt be any slower than ours! My gp sent a referral with URGENT written over it about 10 times, and underlined, in capital letters, and nearly 2 weeks later I havent even received an appointment letter!
We couldnt afford it either, but we joined HSA insurance which pays out for loads of stuff including consultations. Its been worth its weight in gold lately, I bet they wish I'd never taken out my policy!
A one-off consultation is about Ј120.

My mum has spent most of her days in England and when we moved to Scotland that is when she saw a difference, she is in Wales now and has just gone private for a foot op beacuse the system took too long
they also messed her HRT up  so she is not amsused
I hope both our appointments come soon
The waiting about wrecks my head...
Thank you for the info on HSA
Take care Val

Many in the US are advocating for a national health system--very hot political topic over here as you may or may not know.
