Hello All,
Well my husband scheduled surgery for July 3rd. He was then having a conversation with a co worker and he had suggested another surgeon because his wife had had this done 10 years ago and NEVER had an issue since. So he makes the appointment with him!
Explains that he has a fissure and needs surgery. The Dr. shakes his head and explains the he procedure to him. He then checks him visually and sees NOTHING. He then checks him digitally and my husband experiences no pain! He then scopes him and tells him that he sees no fissure nor the evidence of a a fissure being there. He does have some pretty bad internal hemmoids though that are treatable and already have been calmed down! What are some of these Drs thinking?
You have all been very support and and informative. I wish you all the best of luck. I guess the moral to my story is to make sure you get a second, third and maybe a forth opinion.

Just keep in mind that with hemmys, the anus becomes very fissure friendly.
There is not to say that perhaps your husband did have a smaller fissure when he saw the first doctor - AND the way men complain about symptoms and injuries are sometimes more exaggerated and over the top compared to a woman and thus maybe the first doctor thought overall, that surgery may be a good option.
Since perhaps your husband's first fissure was small and not in its chronic stage, it is possible that it has healed and nothing for the second doctor to see.

As we all have learned here sometimes hemmys, skin tags, fissures, etc. can all have over lapping symptoms, the main one leading to ass pain!

I am super happy though that your husband is on a good road to recovery. And that he should really consider still eating plenty of fiber, changing his diet, increasing exercise, and learning how not to strain from going to the toilet - as all these factors have brought him some nice little hemmy friends to be concerned about.

If not careful, a hemmy can still turn into a fissure, a fistula, or any unwelcomed pain in the ass.

2nd, 3rd, and possibly 4th opinions if diagnosis is really really grim, is always a smart choice.

thats good news! But he still needs to be careful. My fissure was caused by a hemmie bursting.

Yes we will make him very aware of the situation. I agree that the first Dr. may have seen a fissure during his colonoscopy and the he was probably lucky enough to heal it for now.
I was under the impression that internal hemmys were not painful?

internal hemmies aren't painful. Its only when they prolapse or thrombose they hurt

Is it possible to have a thrombosed hemmie last for months?

my own experiences of thrombosed hemmies is that they hurt like hell for a few days and then get better, except the one that burst, which turned into a fissure. But maybe everyone is different?

I second what Val states about thrombosed ones. Actually, I have tried to forget what they feel like. (I've had 2.)
I had bleeding internal hemmies several years ago that didn't hurt. I think the ones that hurt are on the outside or the "mixed" ones--half in and half out.

My thrombosed Hemmie hurt like hell until my GP evacuated it which brought much relief, but not total as it was not alone in causing my pain as I also had a Fissure to keep it company. In hind sight (no pun intended) I believe the hemmies caused or at least majorly contribited to the AF.

Will the doctor treat the internal hemmies now ?
