Tabby,
Yes he is treating them and he has a wonderful bedside manner. He explains everything in great detail and doesnt jump into anything. And the nice thing is that he is from our home town and we have a relative in common that makes things so much eaiser. He is feeling much better. The gut wrenching pain is gone but still has the occasional discomfort. I would assume that should still be expected. What I still dont understand is the internal hemmies being painful? He did in the past have some thrombosed ones that he was able to take care of. Unless they are still lingering around?
This new DR said he had nothing internal whatsoever.

Hi Melissa
This is good news, having a good doctor really is half the battle.
I would imagine internal hemmies if large can swell ? maybe this could cause discomfort ?! I am not sure…
Will your husband have any surgery for the hemmies?
Keep us posted
Best wishes to you and your husband

Thank you. Right now he is on an ointment and if that doesnt work looking at banding and last resort surgery.
He appears to have responded well to the ointment at this point so we will see.

Melissa -
I just had banding done on three different hemmies and it worked great! I would recomend it for anyone with grade 2 hemmies! The cream may stop inflamation, but the banding is so simple and it gets rid of them.

Jen-that is great to hear. Do you have a fissure as well or just the hemmies?
Melissa
He was diagnosed with a fissure in March. Kept having pain so his CRS told him he would need LIS. Well be both go to the CRS and he explains the whole procedure to us (which is great) but he DOESNT inspect the area to see if the fissure was still there or healed! So out of the blue a new DR was recommended to us by a friend who had LIS from him 10 years ago. We go to him and he finds no fissure of the evidence of a fissure. Dont get me wrong Im sure there was one there in March originally but good news.......Well kind of. Now he has these internal hemmies to deal with.

Melissa -
Is'nt it crazy about all the people that deal with fissures? I never even knew about them until I got one, and then when I tell people I have one, they shock me and say they had them too - I even ran into a few people that hav had LIS.
I am so glad your hubby is feeling better. Just my advise - the cream can work great for hemmies, but it is not really making them go away. The banding completely gets rid of them for good. Myine would flare up again and again. The banding has been a god send.
I have had hemmie and fissure issues since the birth of my baby. I really think the fissures were being caused by the hemmies - as it does in your hubby's case. Since my banding, the fissure has been non existant. The hemmies cause so much anal swelling, it is only naural that fissures can form in that enviroment.

Jen,
Yes that makes alot of sense. That is what his first CRS originally said. He had thrombosed hemmies just outside and that caused the fissure. Now the external hemmies are gone and so is the fissure. Although he has to make sure the internal hemmies stay under control. I agree. The creams do seem temporary and he has been on it for two weeks now (Dr suggests 4) but he is still in quite a bit of discomfort. Called the Drs office yesterday and they said it does take awhile that is why he suggests 4 weeks. The next step would be banding.

Good luck with everything Melissa! Let us know what happenes in 2 weeks. These problems seams to happen together so this might as well be a fissure-hemmie-butt pain board!
Good Luck!
