Has anyone tried 2% nitro for fissures. Not 0.2% but 2%. Has it worked better than 0.2%. Do you get headaches?

I don't know much about the concentration but I would think the higher dose would be associated with more side effects though it could work better presumably.

I used nitro a few times and I did not get headaches but it burned topically so I had to d/c it.

Some people are going to get headaches regardless of the strength, in fact most people will....but they get better over time as the body adjusts...

mine is only 0.4% and my head feels like it's gonna explode- but its good stuff!! It seems to work at that strength though.

I am on nitro and I am the bigest advocate for it. It affects people differently, but since I have started it, I have had no pain or bleeding for 3 1/2 months. It has never given me a headache, which is a normal side effect.

I believe after a lot of research on the web and personal experience I conclude that 2% nito gives more headache than it cures or provides relief for the fissure.
However you must give a shot to 0.2% concentration ointment which in US is compounded by a pharmacist.
Most of the medical research seems to be done with 0.2% and that is what I think I should stick to.

i started on the .05 then went to the 2%,def had headaches but they seemed to lessen the more i used it.seemed to work well,it burned more than the .05 too,i used it like 5-6 times a day,not the recommended 3 times..so far so good,i kept mine incase i ever need it again,i can start right back up instead of waiting for the dr to prescribe it

When I told my CRS that my family dr prescribed 2% nitro he almost jumped off his chair in shock. He repeated to me several times not to use 2% as it is for cardiac use and its side effects have not been evaluated. Every doctor has some different opinion so I guess we as sufferers need to make the choice as what is best to us.

I've not tried nitro, so have no experience with it. I am currently in my third month of Diliatzem ointment with no headaches from it. Could you try that or the Nifidipine cream instead? I have read in many places that nitro often causes headaches.
It is diffult for us sufferers to know what to do--I agree!! Yesterday my local CRS told me he doesn't like Botox (he doesn't do it) and is in favor of LIS. At Mayo's the next step after creams is Botox, and my GI doc there advises me against LIS, so I agree, we are left in a quandry, not knowing what our next step should be. We are the lay people, and the professionals don't even agree.

Yes, that is so true. We really have to own our health issues it seems since there is so much conflicted data. For example, the GYN I saw on Monday said that if I had pelvic congestion syndrome they would have to give me medicine to put me in a chemically induced menopause. But now I am finding papers that have other alternatives to this.

So, yes, Ravi, we in the end have to figure out what works for us and we know our bodies best.
