I did not have this operation but I know quite a few people who had it said they noticed much less pain afterwards than they were in before.  If you imagine how bad you feel now, it really can't get much worse and you will at least have GA and pain meds.  You are not wasting your husband's time.  You are important and your health needs to be a priority.  I understand about leaving your baby.  I worried about that too but you know they end up doing better than we think.  The moms are the ones that worry more!!!I would think it would be fine to eat fish.  It can have a slight blood thinning effect but it isn't like you are going to go on  fish binge plus the protein is good for healing.Has this experience given you a new perspective as a doctor do you think?  Does it help that you are a doctor that the other physicians take you more seriously? You are going to do just great.  I know it is scary though.  Just when you think you have your life just where you want it something happens but you will get back there.

Pinky
I have not had this procedure done, but as Lecia says: We who have fissures are only too familiar with pain...
Isn't it best that you are realistic in your expectations? Expect pain after surgery, and use the painkillers that you need to take. I knew before my last Botox shot that it would be given without local anaesthetic, and I expected Image Image Image , and because I was so realistic it was only like Image Image
Pain will subside eventually Pinky! Don't you forget that... Image
Take care of yourself now, and be patient after surgery Image

Pinky, I had a fistulotomy and skin tag removal with stitches with my LIS, and although once the GA wears off, yes it is painful, it wont be anything you cant handle. If you have spasms then the LIS will cure them and compared to them it will be a walk in the park. I think the worry and anxiety about the operation is actually worse than the op itself. My surgeon laughed at me because i was more scared of the needles than the operation!
I know how you feel leaving baby - my "baby" is 14 but i was still so upset to leave him as i had to stay overnight, but your babe will be fine and you will be fine. Its nearly all over now and then you will be on the path to healing. Hang in there! Image

Hey Pinky Image !
Just a short note - I can not sit for long Image . FIRST - I want to wish you super successful LIS and exceptionally fast healing Image Image Image May all of your suffering end up tomorrow and forever Image !!!
I had so little pain after my first LIS and fissurectomy that I just could not believe it !!!! I needed to take only single pain medication and I did it since my doctor told me to . I noticed that after it warred off that I was not in a lot of pain so took just Tylenol (Paracetamole ) for a week or 2 - really was just minor discomfort and not a pain. My first BM was almost painless and since I lived with pain for so long I needed a couple of months to relax and stop expecting pain to happen !!! It was wonderful time (sigh..). Unfortunately I developed skin tags after surgery and they become trouble more and more and my sphincter regained it's strength 100 % .
Again - best of luck dear Pinky Image Image Image and write as soon as you can !
All the best Image
