Jen,
You are almost done with school! My son has two more years after this one. I am glad that he likes it so much. He has already done so many things besides being a stock broker!! I get interviewed tomorrow via phone by someone from LA about being a Science Ambassador for Autism Speaks. I still think you should get into the GI field of nursing!! Pretty soon you will be leaving for paradise. It will be a well deserved vacation for you.

hey Jo - I started as an Architecture major and ended up as a Biologist LOL !!! I think that we are just tooo young to make a perfect choice at 17 or 18 and that through schooling we than truly discover who we really are and what makes us feel fulfilled. I never regretted though taking those courses - I learned to draw so wonderfully, free hand and technical project too and all that History of Art and such - it only enriched me in so many ways.
My daughter started as Chemistry major and now is double majoring in Political Sciences and Philosophy !!!! Image Senior at 21 - I am so proud of her :sprinkleheart:

Jen,
I am very proud of all my children. :D
Cheryl,
Good luck Image with the interview. You should do great!
Fiss,
You are so right, we usually don't know what we want when we are 17 or 18. Sometimes I still don't know what I want. Image
I do love Image Image Image being a mother though.
My husband also started in architecture and went on to become an Architect. He loves it.
I guess a few of us do know what they want when they are young.
You daughter must be smart like her mother!

Jo,
Thanks. I'll second what you said about not knowing what we want when we are 18. I wanted to drop out of college and become an airline stewardess, but my parents wouldn't allow it. They feared I would not return to school. Hope Jared is doing OK. I am proud of both of my boys also. How many children do you have? I think you said five once--is that correct??

4 children. Three boys in college and one girl in high school.
What did you study in college?

Jo,
I majored in history and minored in psychology. I was going to major in French which I really liked, but changed my mind. In retrospect I wish I would have majored in Business and/or marketing with a minor in Spanish as I eventually worked in our international division and later in marketing.
Ironically, I tried to steer my son into pharm school after he graduated with his BS in chemistry, but he didn't want to do it. A few years ago the pharmacist at the hospital where my son was working at the time suggested pharm school to him and it appealed to him because he felt he wanted to get out of information services. I think right now he plans to work in long term care and not retail, but a lot can happen between now and the time he graduates. I am betting that Lexipo will really help Jared deal with everything better.

Jo - what a coincidence that your husband is an architect Image . That is great profession - he must be very artistic and at the same time have the brain for engineering and that is very rare combination Image Image - you chose well buddy Image LOL !!! I actually always wanted to be a Veterinarian or Biologist, but since I drew well my parents thought I would be better off as an Architect . Since all of my teachers also insisted that they can not imagine me "working with animals" (?????), I was per-swayed. OK, ha ha, the chances of working with puppies and kittens were slim in my country, I would probably work more with horses and sheep, so I have to give them some credit there , but I really loved all of that LOL. I was studding Architecture for a year but was not happy there although I had great grades. Somehow "drawing on command" lost all of it artistic touch for me :( .I decided to change the major and was so unbelievably happy - I would actually come earlier than anybody to the class, just to sit in the classroom and enjoy all the "smells" and posters and special lab desks - I became a science junkie Image
BUT, as soon as I got my kids - all of that lost it's charm too LOL. I left it all behind to be a full time Mom to my kids. It was the most demanding job anybody could have , but with the biggest rewards in every way Image Image !!!
It is so fulfilling to see one's kids grow up to be just wonderful human beings and being with them in every step of the way 24/7. Life is so short and time flies so fast - they grow up in blink of an eye...I would have hated to miss a single thing LOL !!!

Dear Fissy,
Yes he is very artistic and very smart also. I am very lucky. My kids are so Image smart too! Obviously I am biased Image !! They all are very artistic and love math and science. No one in the family wants to be an architect though. It is a tough field to become established in and you have to work very hard for years until hopefully you can be your own boss :D . My daughter wants to be an artist.
You are so smart Image and sound like you are a scientist!! I know you love to work in your "lab"...
Being a Mom is the best and I wouldn't give it up for anything. Time goes so fast. It is hard to imagine they are almost all "grown up" already. Where did the time go?
Jen, Enjoy the time you have to watch your "little one" grow.
Cheryl,
Wow, I really struggled in French, a second language was really hard for me. I never did master that. I also have a psych minor, although not using the information. I think I "forget" most of it!!
I do hope the lexipro helps. He can tell he is struggling with things starting to annoy him. He thinks his memory and vocabulary is also being affected. Overall he is not doing too bad, I know things can get a lot worse. Image But I will enjoy Image the time right now and try not to think of worse case scenarios!!

Jo,
I think we all have to try to take it one day at a time. It might take awhile for the Lexipro to kick in. I couldn't notice a difference for quite awhile. I asked my psychiatrist yesterday about Hep C. He was familiar with Jared's treatment protocol. I like this guy because he is an internal medicine doc also (dual) and I can ask him questions about my digestive system. I am not going to see him as frequently as he seems to think I am doing quite a bit better these days emotionally.

Hi Jo Image !!! I am so glad that Jared is tolerating his meds well, as you said - it is considerably much better than it could be and it is best to concentrate on that aspect. I do not know about anti-depressants , but as much as I know, after initial adjustment period one starts to function very well and side effects start to disappear. I had to start taking Klonopen (which anti-convulsant) for my Burning Mouth Syndrome and I was told to expect to be VERY drowsy and that after a while I my body would adjust . When I started taking it I was groggy so much, I cried , I did not want to live that way and was wondering what was worse - living with pain or groggy as that, but soon (in about 3 weeks) , my body completely adjusted and I did not feel groggy at all :) - just my nerve burning disappeared Image !!! So, I really hope that that will be same with Jared Image !!!
My both daughters are very artistic - older draws great and dances and is fantastic in acting, but I was afraid to let her be and "artist" LOL, I want her to have safe job and that she can do whatever she wants after that ; ). I always joke that she can use her writing and acting skills very successfully in politics LOL !!!
Younger is math viz - she is already in Calculus (sophomore year) and plays piano level 8 (10 it collage level), so yeah, it is possible by all means to have it all Image And can you imagine what she wants to be ??? A PEDIATRICIAN !!! I would imagine her being engineer of some sort or to go to Musical Academy LOL, but she "wants to help people " and it is just great - it is just amazing watching them becoming "little people" and enjoy being there for them all the way Image
Cheryl - I am happy to hear that your meds are helping you Image - why suffer when you can enjoy your life to the fullest this way !!!! As I said before - we have one life to live Image , so we have to make the best of it any way we can and thanks God for all the medical advancements !!!
