I began having the itchiness about three and a half weeks out from the surgery, maybe a bit sooner. It was a powerful itch and it was extremely hard to resist scratching, but if I didn't, it got ten times worse. But it only lasted a couple weeks, and the peak lasted only about a week.
i remember getting the itchies and i didn't even have an LIS. sometimes it was impossible to not scratch....and once you started scratching, it was like complete bliss.....better than anything you could ever dream of in the whole wide world. of course later, you really realize you irritated the spot even more!!!!!! it's a vicious cycle! keep the area dry!
I never got bad itchiness...i did get some itchiness but it was never severe. I'm 4 weeks out from surgery now. I was very good about keeping the area dry...didn't really wear pants for 1.5 weeks after surgery, wore a robe instead, and wore lots of cotton and loose pants for a few weeks. Also used a hairdryer after showers and baths to keep the area dry. Sounds funny, but it really helped me and I never got a bad itch S
