Corsi -
Good luck! The only advise I have is to keep things real soft after surgery. Don't go and eat anything you want. I listened to my CRS about this one and I regreted it!

Good luck tomorrow Corsi! Yeah, these CRSs seem always to say to eat normally, go back to normal as soon as its over - thats a load of cr*p- any kind of straining afterwards cant be good for it to heal, and would hurt. A lot! I had skin tag removal and a fistula laid open with my LIS, and none of it was as bad as I feared. You're brave, and you will be fine, and this nightmare fissure is going to be a thing of the for you very very soon.
Wishing you good luck and a speedy recovery xx Image

Do I have to take painkillers? How much/how long?
I took Ibux and Paracetamol for a week. The first days I took 2 Paracetamol during the day 2 in the evening and in addition I took 2 in the morning and 1 Ibux. I had LIS on a Monday and a week after I was off painkillers. I weaned off gradually so the Sunday after LIS I was down to only 1/2 Paracetamol in the morning.
Anyone who has used Xylocain after surgery?
I used Xylocain gel for almost 2 weeks and then stopped.
Since they don't actually cut inside the anal canal, but go in from the outside...does BM's hurt?
Not at all like pre LIS fissure pain. Painkillers and Xylocain might have helped, but so far I would say that BM pain after LIS can't be compared to pre LIS pain. You can feel the LIS wound, but for me it wasn't half as bad as I had imagined it to be.
What should I eat the first days? Liquid food, or normal food?
I drank smoothies and nutricion drinks with fibre from the pharmacy, fruit and then slowly I added more normal food in the evenings.
How do I keep things clean? Sitz baths/showers?
Like I did with my fissure, 2 - 3 minutes in sitz bath after BM and then shower off. I had to shower off several times a day. The first week I took similar very short sitz baths when I felt it to be necessary. Now, 2 weeks after LIS I use almost cold water, because for me too hot water causes dry skin.
