Yes, but like I said earlier, I'd be terrified to do another LIS. The incision site from my first LIS still hurts a LOT LOT LOT. Can't imagine having another incision made. Image
It's a combination of both. We currently have no health insurance, and even when we do get COBRA it could be very expensive - the health insurance we got through my dad was GREAT, but a huge amount of people, including him, got let go due to the economy. They also don't understand how painful this is, and when they hear the colorectal surgeons saying they can't do anything more, etc, they don't question it. Whereas I know better, having dealt with countless shitty doctors for my fissure, my IC, my vulvodynia, etc etc. But they think I'm being paranoid.
I live in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Oh poor Crime Image - it is just horrible how all of them treat you Image Image Image !!!!! I wish you live in CA - so I can take you to my surgeon who helped me (it was 6th in a row that I tried - and ALL of the 5 before him were "top rated CRSs in Bay Area - so you get the picture ; ).
I completely understand how it is without health insurance since I was without one for some time - than got Cobra, than "extended" Cobra that we had to pay 1,500 $ a month and still with 50$ co-pay for a specialist HUGE deductible for medications (basically no coveredge there : (((.
Your attitude is absolutely correct and you should never stop trying to find a doctor that can help you ! I hope you will sort out insurance part and I hope even more that your parents will come to their senses !!! (sorry ... just it drive me nuts - I would carry my 140 pound child on my hands to the end of the world to find it help and ... oh well...- would a letter from me to them help at all ??? If I explain how painful fissures are and how many doctors I needed to change until I found a help??? I would be more than happy to write !!!) : ((( I wish I could help in any shape or form : (((
Bottom line - if your sphincter is tight - it is not good : ((( Maybe they can do dilation - if you are so scared of LIS : (( although I despise that procedure. I wonder why your LIS incision did hurt that much and still hurts : ((( . I am also very sensitive in that area but that cut had a dull pain (like a sore muscle pain) for 2-3 days and was first to go away ... That cut is done OUTSIDE of the anus on its side - are you sure it is the place of where the pain still originates : ((? I know when I had my first fissure I felt pain on the left side and fissure was absolutely centered at classic 6 o'clock position. My second fissure was 12 o'clock but pain was on the right side and toward 6 - so go figure LOL Actually, I asked about that and was explained that nerves are sooooo intemingeled in the anus that it is VERY common for a person to "feel" one place and it is actually different location of the fissure all together !
NeuropathicGuy - I had my tailbone broken during the childbirth (9 pound baby= don't even ask LMAO)
and I always wondered if my bundle of nerves got scrambled up also during that even Image )

^ OMG!!! A broken tailbone from childbirth definitely doesn't sound nice at all :( Interesting that your fissure pain was felt in different places Fissulyna... Last year I always had the pain in the middle. But now I have a pain in the left side only. I wonder if it could still be from the fissure Image
CrimeOfPassion, please don't give up. Not having the medical coverage or money to see a doctor right now is one thing. But your parents not believing the pain you're in is quite another. Once the finance/insurance side of things gets taken care of, they have to somehow understand how persistent and painful fissures can be. Maybe like Fissulyna says some of us here can "testify" on your behalf? I can't blame your folks for not understanding how bad it is -- after all I wouldn't either if I'd never had one myself -- but they've got to at least believe you when you tell them!
Sorry I don't know of anyone here from Wisconsin, I think the closest I'm aware of is Illinois... Hopefully someone out there will have more localized recommendations for you.

The surgeon I'm seeing now did a little test awhile back to see where the pain was coming from, and the area that was causing me pain was the area that the incision was made (where there's some scar tissue). At that time, when she pressed on the area the fissure used to be, I didn't get pain. However, that pain eventually returned too, although apparently not the fissure...? I don't know what to believe. But right now, the deep, painful aching and burning during/after a BM is coming mainly from the incision area, although I'm feeling a little discomfort in general too. The incision area, on my left side, is just so sore that it's practically spreading down my leg. Image

I can't believe we had to lose our health insurance now, right before I'm planning to go abroad. I imagine even if we pick up COBRA, something like Botox would be too expensive.
