I want to thank you all for the information I have gotten from your post's, not that I wish AF's on anyone but it's nice to know that I'm not crazy or hormonely inbalanced as my husband refer's to me. First let me start off by sharing some of my sympton's. I have experienced slight bleeding on occasion from my rectal area, I chalked it up to hemmoroid's, which my family physican agreed, yes one external, a few internal. I was advised to use supposatories for them. They were never too bothersome.Last month while at work I fell on a piece of equipment, bruised my lower left buttock, developed pain in my anal area,& I could feel "something" was not right there, I am required by my job to pick up, carry, pour bags of material weighing 50 pound's or more, carry material up steep slopes, drive tractor trailer type trucks etc, etc ( I work for a road construction co. ) Hence the roid's, but anyway, immediately follwing the next morning's b.m. I had blood and ALOT of it, it continued for a week or so . I went to my g.p. and after an exam I was told I had a fissure 1cm wide by 2cm long, internally in my rectal canal. Heating pad , rest etc. The follwing week, I woke to EXCRUIATING pain in my left groin area, back to doc's. was told i pulled a muscle. I couldnt walk for a week, had a low grade fever, was givin anti-inflammatories & pain pill's, also started using Murilex for bowel's the week before although never had a problem w/them. fever broke, pain in groin went away. Now it comes & goes but not as severe, also soreness in left neck that comes & goes, night sweats, fatigued, havent worked since. Was told the AF came from the blunt trauma of the fall.some days low grade fever, some not at all. Was re-examined ysty, yep a couple internal hemmies & fissure still there but didnt bleed ystdy but did today. Lower left buttock sore going towards vaginal are. I am a wreck mentally !!!! hubby telling me I need anti-depressants & it will go away , blah, blah blah.Iv'e done more research than any of my family members & I'm serious thinking I'm not going to be able to go back to my manual laboring job.I rarely have pain during a BM but there is discomfort afterwards & soreness in anal area. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!! Sorry this is soo long but I have NO- ONE who understands...

Hey timber, Image
I'm surprised that your GP hasn't prescribed Rectogesic since suppositories won't help the fissure heal, if anything they will only aggravate it, are you taking Miralax/Movicol and drinking lots of water with a high fibre diet?
Some doctors are soooo uninformed when it comes to rectal pain, they think that a few pain killers and anti-inflammatory pills will get rid of the problem, what you need to do is see a CRS for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, they'll most likely try creams and ointments first, Nifedipine, Rectogesic or Diltiazem, all aimed at relaxing the sphincter, promoting blood flow to the area thus letting healing take place, as for the hemmorhoids if troublesome can be injected (schlerotherapy), banded (ligation) or complete hemmorhoidectomy, some people can live with hemmies others can't, I've had hemmies for 11 years and had two of the above treatments carried out but hasn't cured them, my next step is hemmorhoidectomy which could be carried out tomorrow along with my LIS surgery.
Good luck

Pain and just want advice

Postby timber318 » 28 Jul 2010, 05:25

Thank's so much for the advice, yes I drink lot's of water, I alway's have especially with working outdoor's.As far as my diet I don't eat junk food, fast food, fried food's.I do eat a healthy diet with lot's of fiber.I've had the external hemmie for 23 year's since the birth of my first child, it does swell once in awhile but shrink's during a shower or sitz bath which I've been doing 3-4 time's a day. You are sooo right about the doc's just blowing it off & not being very informed, that's where some of my frustration comes from too, in addition to everyone close to me thinking & saying "oh, it will be ok, it will go away, you'll go back to work soon, etc, etc, etc. That's why I find the support from this forum & joined, unless you have an AF you can't understand. Thank-you again & good luck w/the procedure, I hope all goes well for you. I'm going today to see a rectal & intestinal specialist so hopefully he will help.
