Maybe you could take the diltiazem to your primary care doctor and ask him to refill it for you? I've seen a million and one doctors and my primary care doctor has always been happy to continue medications that specialists prescribed to me so long as I explain why. I see doctors about 4-5 times a month on average and I've never been turned down :)
Otherwise you can always see a different colorectal surgeon. I don't know where you are in Florida but I figure it's a big state with big cities and imagine there must be plenty nearby right? I saw 5 colorectal surgeons before having LIS, and now I'm going to have penile surgery (don't laugh!
) and have seen 3 urologists already. Medical insurance hates me but it's my body so I'm going to do things at my own pace and approach.
I definitely wouldn't get pushed into LIS. Do what you think is working for you and go into surgery only if and when you feel you're ready for it. I'm on the fence about whether I should have had LIS, and it's definitely not the case that everyone comes out of it just fine a few days later. Maybe for some, but it's hogwash if someone's telling you that's always the case.
