Re: Zingers

So far, the pain has been much less, and almost gone by the late afternoon. So I'm really hopeful. I also stopped using the rectogesic the past two days.
I feel like I am trying to silently sneak away from a sleeping giant!

yay, bumbutt!!!
i thought of you while i went away to japan for ten days.
i don't have experience using the rectogesic stuff but on my pre-op surgery visit with CRS, she said you are going so far away to you want to take with you some back up just in case and i was like, yes, just in case since i had to endure one 2 hour flight and then a connecting 13 hour flight. i couldn't imagine dealing with a flare up on the 13 hour one....so she gave me prescription for diltiazem 2% and lidocaine 5%.
i tell you that in 2 days, those things worked wonders. by day 3 or so, no lido needed but i kept the diltiazem up for the rest of my trip.
and all through my trip once i landed in tokyo, i was like a new person. it was like, fissure what? never had bleeding, never had pain, and my bms were ideal there. not sure if it was all the tofu and seaweed but during my last five days, i began to run into bakeries that were predominately french themed and i just love my bakeries!!!! so i was so happy to have the diltiazem and lido as back up.
the other thing that i think really contributed to my happy ass experience was the use of their toilets in japan. they are all TOTO toilets equipped with washlets. see amazon.com and search toto washlet s300 for example.
never had to use toilet paper or baby wipes. the toilet seats were heated. and the self-washing from the jets were ideal. i just had to pat myself dry.
**
i am happy to hear you are feeling much better.
now that i am back to wiping and such, i can feel some irritation but nothing diltiazem or lido can't undo. i just ordered my own washlet.

Thanks for thinking of me happyass! Image
It sounds like your trip to Japan was good, and I'm glad the travel didn't make things worse for you. Instead it brought new toilet equipment discoveries! Warm seats and washlets! I looked on Amazon and you are right, there is a whole bunch of cool stuff (including a portable) under Toto washlet. Someone should put a link for that on the reference section of this forum.
Glad you had a good time and came back a happier ass.
My progress is continuing at even keel. Just a little bit of annoyance in the morning, and a feeling that "something is up" up there... Nothing like the pain of a couple weeks ago. I'm just hoping it continues. By the time I ever get a CRS appointment, I might not have any problem.
I'm not sure though if the fissure is healing or just dormant? I had been feeling it since early November.

Zinger is a great description for these spasms! I get them every so often. Sometimes I get them when I feel fine. I usually let out a shriek when I get them. I usually follow up with a chuckle because it catches me off guard.

Good that you chuckle! I would say I had more of a nervous after-laugh. Like at Christmas dinner when I got zinged and yelled out loud and everyone stopped eating their turkey and looked at me! "Sorry, uncontrollable pain. It's over. Nothing to see here..." Image
Wonder what the heck that is, anyway? I have a feeling it's the muscle trying to do a "reset". Or else it is possessed...
Anyway, this week I'm still feeling relatively good. I'm still taking a 3/4 sachet of movicol at night. I still haven't walked any further than 100 yards in one day. Just have some discomfort after the initial morning BM (any ones that happen later seem to come with a get out of jail free card, since I already paid in the morning).

Just to make note of things...
Today the spasms made a little re-appearance. Not sure why. Maybe too little time between BMs (had 3 in the past 9 hours - sorry if that's TMI!
Yesterday I also felt a return of pressure that had disappeared and started using rectogesic again.
I take it this is just one of those steps backwards... as long as it keeps going two steps forward and one back, it is still slow progress forwards, I hope!

This morning has been one of the most pain-free mornings! Yesterday I rested all day and discontinued the rectogesic again.
It's one of the up days in this up and down ride.

Glad I made you smile, and I hope you will be feeling better with time, and after reading the posts on this board so you know you aren't alone.
I've barely been out of the house myself for 7 weeks, but as long as I am getting better, I can deal with it. I hope you can also get to the point where you don't have any more zingers either.

I was feeling so good yesterday, I finally went out for a walk! The grocery store route. Everything felt quite ok, although spending one hour on my feet felt like the limit. The discomfort just builds over time, like a pressure that then eventually will turn into pain if I don't sit or lie down.
This morning, also feeling good, but my bright idea to clean the bathroom after taking a bath wasn't so good, as it aggravated things. I should have just layed down after the whole morning bathroom routine. I can't say it's painful anymore - it just feels like there's something up there. And if I just ever so slightly touch my cheeks over that area, it aggravates it too - as if I were touching an inflamed nerve or something.

I'm headed back to work part time next week though (afternoons, and have mornings at home). That's how much better it feels.
Did get a zinger out of the blue last night though. So weird.
