I am very relieved it all went smoothly and my MIL got to spend a few days holding her new granddaughter before her surgery. I just hope I'm as brave as she seemed in the last week!
The Valium just gets me thru the worst hous of the morning but within 20min of taking it, the spasms stop! Well, I think they do if that's what causes the constant burning. I guess I have a little less stress now too just because those two big days r behind us.
This will b the hardest month tho, every year late march I start working in my flower beds I usually have a big perrenial sale in late may, I am really going to miss it but I think before this time last year I was managing my fissure better... The digging and potting made the fissure really come alive for me! And I've been like this ever since. So I will have to resign myself to weedy, overgrown beds this year....
Have u been sticking to your diet religiously or have u let yourself have the odd indulgence? I hope so, I am also counting the days till I can have a huge hunk of chocolate cake with ice cream after a nice steak! Sorry if that's a tease, I'm like a survivor contestant all I can think about is junk food!

Aww, I'm sorry about the flower beds... :(
Hopefully the surgery will be the end of all your worries though, and you can get back to it next year feeling strong.
I was worried about my garden too, I'm more a vegetable gardener (I kind of suck at flowers but I'm getting better.)
I have seedlings downstairs right now that need to be transplanted into bigger pots, but they haven't died of neglect yet and I think it can wait a few more days.
Miralax kind of lets me eat whatever I want to be honest. I've always been a pretty healthy eater anyway. But last night we ate nachos (with plenty of beans and fresh cilantro!) and I survived. I still eat nuts too, I just chew them thoroughly. Popcorn, eh, maybe not such a good idea, so if it's around I limit myself to just a little.
You know, the other night I was wondering about those Guinness Book crazy people you hear about once in awhile--the kind that eat glass and airplane parts to get in the book--how do they not have fissures? Do you think they think to themselves, ooh, I had an entire carburetor today, better take some extra Miralax with that? Image

Congratulations! I wish you a pain free and quick recover from your LIS! Mine would be on April the 7th and I'm starting to get pretty worried. I had to take leave from work and I did so without telling them exactly "where" I'm going to have my surgery. I was too ashamed to tell my boss....you know.
Huh? A Tolkien lover on this board of all the places? I cannot quite believe it. I got into some discussions with other people over Tolkien's Silmarillion and now we're at each other's throats. So, for a speedy recovery, I would definitely not recommend Silmarillion but rather nice, (relatively) happy ended Hobbit or LOTR.
I hope to hear many good news from you!

Congratulations on getting your surgery scheduled! April 7th isn't too far away. I know I felt very anxious before surgery too but it was really a much easier experience than I thought it would be. You'll be so glad that you did it!
I really kept my surgery a secret from most people, I don't know what I would have said at work if I had a job. I think I'd lead them to believe it's something gynecological, as nothing shuts people up faster than hearing 'female problems'.
I guess I've only read the 'safe' Tolkien...the Silmarillion I don't own. A long time ago my aunt gave me The Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy as a gift, and I pull them out and read them once every ten years or so. They are beautifully written. The films annoy me when they veer from the books. I tried watching The Fellowship of the Ring during my recovery but I got irritated and lost interest and shut it off.
Best wishes for your surgery!

Day 9 is going great! No bleeding, no leakage, no pain.
I'm starting to think my surgeon really knew what he was doing, with the precision of watchmaker.
My bruise was only the size of a quarter and gone in about 4-5 days. Every day the swelling comes down a little more and I feel better. Of course it helps I only had LIS, not fissurectomy or skin tag removal.
I just hope this continues down the path of too good to be true that I'm on. I'm still taking a half teaspoon of Miralax and Citrucel, but I wouldn't mind doing that forever (well the Citrucel anyway).

And if my butt ever throws another fit, I know who I'll have work on it again... Image

Day 12 and things are going well...I've been eating all sorts of garbage that I shouldn't be; white flour bagel smothered in cream cheese, popcorn, chips, fried food, candy, beer. I even made homemade scotch eggs last night, but I tried to balance that by eating it over salad greens. I even ate steak and I don't even like red meat! Image
Other than a bit of pain from the incision site, and some irritation when walking too much, I've had no other problems. Hope I don't jinx myself by saying that.

I am so happy for u! I can't wait to have popcorn again! I am now counting the days until my surgery. Today the sufrexal cream arrived not from Mexico, that one got lost with the luggage in transit, but from Belize where my husband was working. Unfortunately his company had a fatal plane crash this past weekend out west and he was sent home early. He is having a hard time dealing with the loss of a colleague he's worked with for over a decade. Anyway he knew he'd get the cream here before my aunt so after the kiss/hug hello it was "where's the cream?"
I'm hoping to reach your level of healing before surgery.
It's nice to think we might all have normal butts someday!
I hope you continue your speedy healing!

I hope you continue to have amazing progress! You deserve it! Just be careful with that fried food, popcorn, etc.... It makes me shiver! I've eaten nuts, drank beer, had red meat - but haven't dared eat popcorn!
A hello to Sphinctersaurus too, and I really hope you will be making progress too, although I know it is going more slowly.
