I live out in the country, and I don't like it because basically I am isolated out here. I love the surroundings, the animals and the birds, but I would rather be closer to the town. So, we plan to buy something else, closer to town. I have always been a city girl, but I chose this house, so must take the blame...so to speak.
What are you favourite colour combinations?

I can't wait to get back to walks through forests, looking for wierd flowers, or just walking the road with my girls, picking the winter trash out of the ditch. Now, I can see it happening... Before, those walks were torture, I've missed so much!
I'm watching the Amazing Race finale on TV tonight. Would you run this race and who would be your partner? I liked all three of the finalists this season, it was a happy ending!

I'm afraid I don't know the Amazing Race, as only have HBO and PBS, and a few other channels. I could look it up,but that would be a swizz, so I'll let my imagination run away with me, and imagine that it is a race from one side of a tropical island to the other, with treasure waiting. So, I would run that, and I would take my sister as my partner. Poetic license I have taken here, so to speak!
Do you like bird watching? (I do, and just took photos of a Purple Thrush and a Rose Breasted Grosbeak on my bedroom window ledge!)

A. Yes - we keep a tally of birds seen in our garden (but we're not twitchers) some 30 or so species average say 15 different species each day. We heard out first cuckoo of the season yesterday. Great spotted woodpecker, nuthatch and goldfinch are some of my favourites we see here (New Forest, UK) - and we've a pair of pied wagtails and a family of buzzards we see flying around now and again. We have a few nesters: house sparrow and blue tit under the edge of the thatch, robin and blackbird close by - possibly swallow in an outbuilding. We feed the birds and get great enjoyment from that - many have young at the moment and we're also providing them a few mealworms
Q. What minor local thing or things give you joy?

My minor local thing that gives me joy every day is to heat up some skim milk, add a dash of cream and put it in a thermos cup. Then I go to Tim Horten's and get a small coffee and a toasted breakfast biscuit. I then drive to 'my' river, mix the coffee in with the milk, and add grape jelly to the biscuit. I watch the birds in silence, and enjoy my brekkie. Wonderful.

I carry an iPod in my pocket but am only online in or near the house. I probably spend anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on the day and my level of business.
Do you have a favorite cd you like to listen to on a long drive?

On long drives I like to play "Three Tenors in Concert" CD. I pretend that I am Pavorotti screaming by throat dry in my deepest (artificial) tenor voice. Nessun Dorma is my favourite tract, so that makes me quite hoarse. Then when the tenors begin to sing modern classics such as "Maria" and "Midnight" I transform into a pop idol performing in Central Park to a vast adoring crowd. Then, in an effort to get back to reality, I select any Bob Marley CD and immerse myself in the struggles and loves of ordinary people.
In our opinion, what is the perfect job?

The perfect job? I was an editor of a news network for many years and I loved it. It was connected to Southern Africa, and was not huge, but rewarding. So, that is my perfect job, and I miss it still.
