Hii Guys! Anna, 19 (this is a long one sorry!)

Hi Everyone!
im 19 and I have been suffering from fissures for about 3 years. My first fissure happened when i was 17, junior in high school. i had no idea what it was so i did some online research and of course went through the "if i just don't poop, ill be fine" fase. my first fissure i really only had for about a week, i spent most of that avoiding bathrooms at all cost until finally i couldn't anymore and when i went it was painless! i didn't experience another fissure until my senior year this one way more serious, i ended up becoming so compacted i had to go to the emergency room and have them painfully go in and "remove" some of the impaction...with their hands. since then i have been suffering on and off none that bad until now. i have been suffering from constipation this entire week and i am the type of person that once it starts, no laxative or anything will help. i have a pretty solid routine of taking magnesium citrate so break everything up so that i CAN go and then getting back on track from there but i am terrified that this situation is abit more serious
after my last BM i went to clean the area and i could clearly see the tear and it was not small at.all. i have never really gotten up close and personal with any of my other fissures so i don't know if its normal to see pink or should i be freaking out and running to the emergency room.
woo...that was long but im freaking out!!!

Hi there, welcome to the forum, but sorry you have to be here, of course!
Well, I never looked at my fissure but my CRS said it was really big, so don't freak out about that. You can have a huge fissure with very little pain, or a tiny one with massive pain, so size is kind of irrelevant.
You really should be avoiding constipation. Try movicol/miralax, and some milk of magnesia, or flaxoil. But keep the stools soft.
Your best bet is to try to get an appointment with a colo-rectal surgeon (CRS) who can best advise you, and perhaps start on one of the healing creams like nitro, or diltiazem. You could ask your gp for those.

Hi and welcome! I don't think you need to freak out just yet - but I understand the impulse! I agree with that you should see a CRS asap. This is the specialist who will help you manage and heal the fissure and it's definitely better not to put it off. GPs are often not very helpful because they tend not to know very much about fissures.
Try not to worry - a good CRS will get you back on track! :D

thanks guys so much! i had a little cry this morning, talked it over with my mom (who is SO supportive) and we arranged a doctors appointment with my GP to see what can be done and see if she will recommend a great CRS if need be for me
