I have an appt with my CRS Tuesday to give me a deffinitive answer, but I'm trying to decide whether I have a hemorrhoid or an anal tag. It protrudes from the posterior side and is very red, usually moist and sometimes bleeds. It's not soft, but not rock hard. Does this sound like a skin tag from a fissure?

Does it hurt a lot? It could be an abcess if it bleeds at other times apart from after/with a BM.
It's a good thing that you are getting it looked at very soon, although it might not be anything to worry over.

It doesn't hurt a lot, but it makes things a little uncomfortable. I'm not sure if that's the direct source of the bleeding, but I've noticed a few blood stains lately. When I apply the nifedipine ointment inside with a q tip, the q tip usually comes out clean so I'm concerned the bleeding is being caused by whatever this thing is. I have a couple skin tags on the anterior side and those are more flesh colored. What's alarming to me is it's color and texture. It looks exactly like a lima bean, but thinner and it's red and moist.

It could just be a skin tag then. It doesn't sound much like a hemmie. Your CRS will know what it is for definite, and at least you haven't got too long to wait and worry! It's awful not knowing what it is, and worrying about it!

i have the very same thing you do. have had 2 docs tell me it is skin tag and 1 doc say hemm. i dont know what it is yet. maybe the new crs i am going to will give me a def answer on it. mine is swollen and hurts, is external and sometimes bleeds,
