Appt tomorrow I'm anxious

Postby mayiahsmom » 06 Nov 2011, 16:59

I see the specialist tomorrow afternoon and I'm so anxious. I've been dealing with this for over two years and I'm pretty sure he'll say surgery, but there are so many things going into this. I just started a new, wonderful job three months ago. How am I going to tell them if I have to have surgery? Plus I have no sick time yet and I live payday to payday. I know this is small stuff, but I'm really worried and wanted to just vent it here...

No, it's not small stuff. Just take it a day at a time. Don't anticipate more problems. Go in, see what the doctor says. If he recommends surgery, okay.
Then go to your job and request the FMLA. They can't really deny tge request. Problem is, it will be unpaid leave. You'll have to weigh that against waiting and determine what you can handle.
If you can handle waiting until the time would be paid, then do that and go ahead and schedule. Setting a date ifficially will relieve some stress.
If you can handle taking tge unpaid leave, do it now and get it over with. You'll be an even greater asset to your job healed.
Best to you.

If you do have to go the surgery route, it might be possible to have surgery on a Thursday/Friday and be back at work on a Monday/Tuesday (if you have a standard M-F job). My CRS told me I only had to miss 3 days. If two are a weekend day you are only looking at one day off. I took more because I had it to burn and I had a minor (but painful) complication. All is MUCH better now. If your CRS recommends surgery and you feel good about the doc...go for it! Two years is too long to deal with this PITA! Let us know how it goes...

I had surgery on Thurs 11 Nov and I am healing nicely. I plan to return to work tomorrow Tues 15 Nov. 3 days off. Now ....I am still tender/sore....and you do need to keep the area clean, but I have no pain!! Nothing like BEFORE the surgery!!! I dreaded having surgery, but afterwards...I wanted to kiss the CRS!!! It was quick and painless! Full recovery will take some time....but I am RELIEVED not to have spasms!! Of course everyone is different and may experience different outcomes. It was worth it!!!
