Movicol long term

Postby Iona » 20 Nov 2011, 14:12

Hello again - I have been saving questions up so it seems!
Wondering about he long term use of Movicol/Mirelax.
I have been on it now for several months and my GP says its ok to keep taking for a while but how about a long while?
Any down sides here? Also any one managed to come off of it successfully?
Thanks for your support all, this place is brilliant.

actually i think different docs have different viewpoints. What i have researched is that it's not good to keep taking softeners / laxatives as the body can be dependent on it. This is also advised by my CRS, who's a believer of good well-balanced diet rather than supplements/the like.
