New to this fissure pain

Postby grannymaria » 04 Jan 2012, 16:12

Image God bless each and everyone of you - happy and blessed 2012..
My name is Maria and just got diagnosed with an annal fissure last month.. I am in remission of APL leukemia :( and God willing, by HIS stripes be healed completely..
I'm a gramma of 2 beautiful grandchildren Image Nathan and Dania Image - and mom to Eduardo, Daniel and Marily and her hubby Misael Image ..
I thought that I just had a bad case of the 'roids and could not understand the severe, agonizing, heart stopping, head throbbing, Image pain during and after a BM Image after a few weeks of this horrible pain - my family doc checked it and said it was a fissure! I had never heard of this and she sent me to a colon rectal specialist.. He prescribed the nitro 0.2 % and some pain killers - which I can't take since I'm still taking chemo meds..
Thank you all for sharing your ideas, suggestions, remedies.. I will be reading more here and I'm glad I'm not alone with this.. Image
So far, I have learned here that I need more fiber, drink more water, exercise more and that this will get better..
Thanks again everyone.. May this be a thing of the past for us all.. Image

Yay another Grandma!Keep coming back This board has helped me so much. Double whammy with the chemo and fissure. I was told that I needed to measure my progress in weeks not days. Sometimes I feel, like it is months but I kept on plugging away. Took a hold of each little milestone...came off pain meds...ate the same meal as I prepared for my husband and it did not tear me up...went back to work... slept all night. I feel so much better and thank my God for that everyday. I will send one up for you. You enjoy those grandkids!!!

I'm a little late but wanted to say Welcome to the forum GrannyMaria!
I'm so sorry you got a fissure on top of what you have already been through. You are definitely not alone. There are some great folks in here who are going through or been through the same. Image
