Update!

Postby Jenbug » 29 Dec 2011, 20:21

I had my appointment with the CRS today. Everything was good..sorta??
Apparently I had a fistula that healed itself. Which is extremely rare, but could be the staphysagria I had been taking. My IBS is severe, which is bad, so he put me on a few meds, Questran and Bentyl. I have three visible fissures and was told to take some sea salt baths for 20 minutes 3 times a day and to keep myself on a Boost diet for a few days.
Other than that my next appointment is on the 11th to check and see how the fissures are healing and how my system is doing with the new meds.
Everyone have a good new years!

Sorry this is late! Family stuff has been keeping me busy.
I am diarrhea IBS, which is horrible. I never know what will set off my system on a day to day basis.
And the fistula, while I trust my dr, it seems too good to be true. There is no more drainage, but the cord where it ran is still sore. Which he says is normal...maybe I'm just paranoid?
As for the pain. Yes. Yes. Yes. I work at the computer most of the day, so when I get up, its like a stick is in my butt. I take a bath before a bm and a shower after and that helps a bit.
But you know what? There are things that get me through the day. A hug from the dog and my husband. A silly novel. Video Games (yea..I said it. I'm a geek.), netflix. Sex and the City dvd's and HBO and Showtime in general. Good bubble bath. The sound of snow falling. There are things to get us through every day and be thankful.

Jenbug, I agree.
One thing about having this AF is that it has reminded me of how precious life is - our loved ones, our time on this earth, etc.
Last night I watch the OWN network (Oprah's channel) - and I saw Jane Fonda, also Steven Tyler. What struck me is how much these two have been through, and they both seemed humble and grateful to have gotten through life, thus far. I've not really been a fan of either one of them, really, but I appreciated how ST enjoys the little things of life and how JF has weathered alot of heartache in her life.
