but how is it determined if surgery is needed? I've been reading alot of your posts here and see where some have had surgery - and just wanted to know how it's determined :roll:

I'm new to this AF pain :*(

Usually if your fissure is chronic, meaning you have had it longer than 8 weeks without healing. Or healing and retearing. Some of us have a skin tag that goes along with the fissure and that is also a sign of being chronic. I just had surgery yesterday and was totally freaked out about it and would do it again in a minute. It is not a party, but having NO spasms is!!!
