I SURVIED!

Postby Fissure Warrior » 28 Jan 2012, 01:04

HAD SURGERY TODAY I DID IT!!!!!!......6 months ago i was having trouble with BM's and I went to a doctor. He had some pictures on the wall and a plant. It was pretty low rent. I told him my issues with bm's and constipation. He suggested a Colonoscopy. I take the exam and they find nothing. I feel constipated again and i go to use an enema. This time. WOW. There was serious pain. The tissue was damaged by the procedure. So there I was was left with a torn who ha. NO idea what I was gonna do . It hurts like nobody's business. Don't let the doctors sugar coat it. Its not gonna be easy.If a doctor throws medication at you, make sure you know what you are getting. I was prescribed two meds that were supposed to heal me in two weeks. I made it about 1 day on it. Its side affects are super strong. Headaches dizzyness .I'ts kind of made for people like Hulk Hogan or something. How anyone can endure the lowered blood pressure and all is beyond me. The best thing I can tell you is if it hurts down there. DEMAND THEY INSPECT YOU! They will not if you don't ask them to. Especially if you are on any kind of low rent insurance like me. I made 8 doctors visit over 5 months before he finally sent me to a rectal surgi. His name was Doctor Stephen M. Brown ,I shiz you not, Rectal surgeon. I died laughing when I saw this. The thing to remember is that your gonna make it through newbies.Stay positive! You will find people who will listen. Some of them you shouldn't tell your tale to. I had to find out the hard way and lost friends because of it. Some people are just immature and ignorant. You can't help but not feel sorry for them. However theres you, you got yourself to worry about and you gotta just brush it off. The pain is alive in me but im stronger now and feel my confidence building back up. Be strong people. It will soon pass. Baths are the new best friend that you will read about on here. You will learn to take them. Just make sure u read about your condition. Monitor the changes and make sure you get it taken care of timely. My appointment was deleted 3 months. You may have to wait a while but stay strict with a diet. I keep hearing people reefer to it as the winds. People seriously. The winds is the best you can come up with. I simply call it man breeze.

Hey Warrior,
What kind of surgery did you have?
Sorry some of your friends didn't understand.
You know there must be a lot of Dr. Brown's in the Colon and Rectal business, cause I had a Dr. Brown when I lived in Albuquerque (wouldn't recommend him though). There's also one in Connecticut and one in Arizona and one here in Vancouver Canada, where I am now.
Perhaps they are subliminally drawn to the profession?
:D
How are you feeling post surgery?
Was the topical you tried before Nitroglycerine?

I had fissure surgery. I had the thing sewn up. How could someone not understand that. Really ??? Yes it was Dr. Brown in Phoenix. Having new issues this week. Lots of bleeding. Not happy but I guess that this is all part of recovery. Isn't it?

Actually, there are many different kinds of fissure surgery.
Have you looked under the section on this board called "Considering Surgery or Already Had It?"
I know you are in pain, as are we all. But I don't appreciate the sarcasm.

'having the thing sewn up' is not all there is when it comes to surgery connected to anal fissures.
What workingonit suggested - looking through the Considering Surgery or Already Had It - will give you an idea of what others have been through.
Lots of bleeding is not part of the healing process, so you might want to talk to whoever did your surgery.
Good luck.

Hey Warrior - I'm with Tanya and Sav here. I'm also a bit puzzled. Having a fissure sewn up is actually not the standard surgical procedure. The gold standard surgery is called an LIS (Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy), where they cut a bit of the internal sphincter muscle to allow blood to flow to the area and promote healing. (A few others here have had a Standardized Anal Dilation, which may become the new gold standard, and is worth investigating - see wecc's posts in the 'Considering Surgery' forum). I agree that you may want to check out the posts under 'considering surgery' - there's lots of really valuable information there. If you're still having problem, I really think you should maybe get checked out by a different CRS.
Good luck!
