FISSURE PAIN DESCRIPTION

Postby thisfissurecankissmybutt » 17 Mar 2012, 10:12

Hi All!
Can anyone (or everyone, please!) describe in DETAIL what their POST-BM fissure pain feels like. Do you feel the pain at the base (bottom) of the anus? Higher up in the anus? Do you feel the pain on any particular side of the anus (i.e., left side, right side, front, back)? Is it a sharp pain? A dull pain? Is it a throbbing pain or a constant pain? How severe is the pain (maybe on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being barely noticeable and 10 being unbearable).
In other words, if I were your doctor and you had to describe the pain to me in exacting detail, what would you tell me?
Also, do over-the-counter pain relievers work for anyone with fissure pain? If so, what kind(s)?
I'm trying to distinguish between fissure pain and Levator Ani Syndrome pain. I have been diagnosed with both.
Thanks!

With this last fissure (I've had two), the pain from the spams were as if some on had given me an enema of ground up glass shards. It would come on anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes after a BM and would go on for three to five house or more. There was no way to escape the pain, standing, sitting, laying on my side all hurt equally as much. Nucynta ER, a class 2 narcotic on the order of Demerol and Morphine barely took the edge off.
I hope this info helps and I also hope you find relief soon!

My pain was a stabbing sharp pain that felt it was higher up in the anus. It would typically last about 5 hours after a bm... Just in time for the next bm.

An extremely sore burning sensation as if someone was holding a cigarette lighter to my butt. I never really had pain during the BM but the spasms would start about 30 minutes later and last for 4-6 hours.
The pain seem to come from the butt hole itself on the edge closest to my back (that is where the fissure wound was visible). The pain at its worst was about an 8 out of 10 and painkillers made no difference.
It seemed to be at its worst when I was stood stationary

I don't get spasms, so my AF pain was like a sharp cut feeling during a BM, right where the AF is. Then I would feel sore after. On the bad days couldn't sit comfortably for any length of time on anything, or stand still.
Now that I am almost healed, I still get a twinge during a BM, but generally only feel a bit of discomfort now and then through the day. I still can't sit on a hard surface for more than a half hour to and hour without feeling sore again.
I get a pokey feeling inside sometimes and a kind of 'fullness' and I think this is from an enlarged papilla but not sure. Could be a hemmie. Need to ask the doc next week.
I haven't taken any pain killers. Just an electric heating pad at the end of the day or after being on my feet for a long period of time. I have been taking the odd advil lately, but that is more for inflammation.

My pain is also a near constant burning feeling. It can start almost as soon as I stand up after finishing my BM or about half an hour afterwards and can last up to 6 hours. At its worst the burning feeling is so intense I can't get comfy at all. Sitting down is almost impossible (I don't know how people work when they have this pain). I tend to have a BM first thing in the morning so by mid afternoon/evening I feel human again!

Looking at your post and replying in sequence:
Q.  Do you feel the pain at the base (bottom) of the anus?
A.  I can't say that I feel the pain at the bottom of the anus, though sometimes I think I feel a spasm there. I do get pain in my coccyx that can be 5 on the 1-10 scale.
Q. Higher up in the anus pain?
A. My pain is definitely internal, and I very seldom actually feel anything outside my anus. More up into the rectum, and sometimes the blood is probably from further up (rectum) as it is maroon coloured as apposed to bright pink. The darker the colour, the further in.
Q. Do you feel the pain on any particular side of the anus?
A. No, not any more. In the beginning I felt it on the right but now it is all just internal.
Q. The pain type?
Starts after a BM, first thing in the morning. If I cannot totally pass everything, my fissure is irritated. If anything is left behind near the supposed fissure (CRS didn't find it, only found my excruiating pain with his q-tip), I am in pain of about 6. The pain can be: spasm, feeling of tennis ball left behind which can actually just be the tiniest bit of a BM, pain in my urethra, which usually helps if I wee, pain in the general area on occasion, difficulty in walking (cannot go anywhere, basically, that I have to walk, and spend most of my time on my sofa). Can only sit in the mornings in my car, the rest of the day cannot sit. Night time I do not wake with pain (my only pain free time). This sounds pretty awful, and it pretty much is.
No more for now.

Mine is very sharp pain, razor blade like, during most BMs. Right fter the BM is what I call after-burn, it is a burning pain as my rectum relaxes afterward, it spikes with each clench of the hole (sorry, no other way to describe it). Then 1-3hrs later is the spasm, feels like a cramp, deep, not surface. Every now and then I get a pinching feeling and pain the vaginal area.
Pain medication does not help at all. A hot bath or sitting on a heating pad helps, but not always. Sometime I roam, sitting, laying down, over and over until. I can get a handle on the pain.
