Hie everybody
well ive been away for sometym but it feels good to ba back this place feels like home cos we all understand our pain more than anyone else. i had my LIS las year in august and i have to thank God that it was the wises decision i ever made, life was so unbearable before, the pain and bleeding and not being able to eat. now i dnt bleed and im recovering quite well. i wont lie i have a bit of sum rough days wen i eat sth wrong and i might retear my crs said im a rare case cos i still have quite a lot of spasms so i dnt knw wat to do about that if surgery couldnt get rid of them, another surgery would be too much so anyone with an idea of wat i should do with the spasms
but most importantly its still my use of movicol that worries me, i startd taking it after my surgery and now wenever i try to wean myself of it i feel pain and retear. i know is quite safe to take it over a long time but i dont want to live my life permanently on movicol, wat shud i do

Hi Michelle,
you might look up self dilation. It's an old fashioned 'cure' but it does seem to help with spasms and tightness.
Just use the search box above and there's a fair bit of info.
I'm glad you are feeling better!
Have you tried fibre supplements?
Not all are as bulking as metamucil. If you ask at your local health store, they should be able to point you in the right direction.
I like prune juice instead of miralax/movicol.

Hi Michelle,
Many people re-tear after surgery but they always say that they heal faster. So don't worry too much. I always say for myself to go to the doctor if it eases my mind. I am a worrier.
The stool being a bit hard at the front seems to be a common problem.
I've heard a few ways of dealing with this;
One guy takes his stool softener in the middle of his midday meal (he takes ducolase). So sometimes changing when you take your softeners helps.
Other people use a syringe or bulb syringe to squirt warm water or olive oil into their sphincter, 10-20 min before they go to the bathroom. This softens the front end of the stool.
Another lady had luck with changing the type of fiber supplement she takes to acacia fiber.
hope this helps and I hope you feel better over the weekend Michelle!

thank you tanya you have been a huge help, i just came back from the doctor and i was in so much pain when he examined me. i didnt realise how bad the pain was till he put his finger, he just gave me scheriproct so i guess the rest is up to me, if its common to retear 7 months post op then u have put my mind to rest, i just pray it heals faster, i have my graduation coming up and i have been tryin to eat to gain weight so i can look good, its funny how sth like this can dampen all your future plans cos i have lost weyt due to not eating the last two days, thats how fast i can lose weigt, thank u once again

Did this recent incident come out of nowhere or have things been irregular since your surgery? How bad was it before? Did it come about from diarrhea or constipation the first time?
Im just curious cuz I've been dealing with my fissure for the last 7 months and Im considering LIS. I am luckily not in pain but it just seems to bleed a bit once a month even when my BM have been fairly soft.

hey jax
well i have irritable bowel syndrome so i had just had a bout of diarrhea then i kinda got constipated, my stool was a bit hard so i guess even in such instances u will still retear even if u had LIS.
My advice is if the bleeding is affecting u get the LIS, for me it was both the bleeding and blinding pain and i waited for abt 3 years to get the op till things were pretty bad, my fissure was now way to chronic and only LIS would help. Im glad to say things have been significantly better though since LIS, they are tyms ae have minor setbacks but not as bad as before,

g09,
Oh okay I see. Yea I don't think I have IBS but I was having a spell of diarrhrea and upset stomaches the months leading up to my fissure. I think I had some type of virus because I was naseuous/sick on and off. Anyways, I'm pretty sure Im over that, but it left me this crappy fissure.
