A friend of mine is into natural health stuff, and for a time was making soap and skin creams. I learned about both Shea Butter and Coconut Oil from him, but had not thought of their use for AF sufferers until now.
I don't think I'd want to go rubbing corn oil or veggie oil on my rump though. They are not as high quality and spoil easily.

i've been using the coconut oil applied topically for a couple of weeks now, twice each day, along with miralax and a careful diet (mostly).
so far so good.

I love coconut oil. I use a generous amount of extra virgin coconut oil on the area too when it's healing. I also use manuka honey to make it heal (check my post in general). Both natural products that really work.

HI Folks,
I looked for coconut oil at whole foods and found stuff that was meant for cooking. Is this what you are talking about? I didn't see any coconut oil in the section meant for body use, but wasn't sure . . .

Hey Sailorgal,
Yes, it is the same stuff! lol
So if it doesn't work on yer butt, you can use it in the kitchen Image
get the virgin kind, as it has had less heat during pressing.

Kenber,
I am so sorry you are suffering so much.
Have you tried miralax to make your BMs soft?
Do you drink lots of water?
Are you sure the AF is healed? I've read that it sometimes takes a while for the spasms associated to fade away even after it heals, but yours still sounds pretty extreme.
Can your doctor give you anything for the pain?
(be careful of the consitpation some painkillers can cause).
have you looked around on the site about spasms?
There's not a lot you can do. When the AF heals they should go away. sitz baths are soothing, electric heating pads.
THere is also dilation. You can look up self dilation as a way to reduce spasms and massage the muscle.
Wish I could be of more help.
