What Painkillers Work Best For Spasm At Night?

Postby jillywilly » 03 May 2012, 04:02

Hi everyone iam still suffering although in the last week i had a couple of almost pain free days (along with a couple of really bad ones too!) I had to go & see my GP after a very bad night in terrible pain & she prescribed "Instillagel" (lidocaine local anaethestic gel) to be honest it didnt give me the relief i'd hoped for but has helped abit & iam still using Rectogesic or Anoheal cream as well, in the vain hope that my fissure may heal itself, the rectogesic gives me a bit of pain relief but bad headaches, the anoheal doesnt relieve my pain at all & even stings sometimes when i apply it but i cling to the hope that its doing some good down there! What i really wanted advice or suggestions about is oral pain killers available in the UK as lot of them contain codeine which can cause constipation i try not to take too many of these but iam now also taking Lactulose to try & stop me from getting constipated although this isnt a problem i've ever had before as my fissure has been caused or at least aggrevated, i think by my often having several BM aday (not unusal for me to do this on a regular basis for several days at a time) I need something i can take at night when the pain stops me from sleeping as nothing i've tried so far seems to help & i'm getting so fed up with it.

I agree - I just took a Valium 30 minutes ago and the spasms are already greatly reduced.
