Blood, long after BM!!

Postby notmuchfunanymore » 23 Mar 2012, 23:57

I was doing great... pain had dropped drastically, little or no blood for a week, only a severe itch that I attributed to healing (as it had been in the past).
Tonight, at least 8 hrs after my last BM, I applied Diltiazem before going to bed and gently put pressure on my A to help soothe the intense itch. Shortly after, I started to bleed, much much much more than I had ever experience with a BM! No pain, just the itch and a very slight burning.
What is this all about? Is my winning streak tainted? I'm scared for tomorrow morning's BM, did my fissure re-open--- will I be sent back to square one?
I say a Hail Mary when I poo.

Did you ever find an answer to this? I'm having the same issue! It's been at least 8 or 9 hours since my last BM -- but when I went to apply a little ointment, I still saw bright blood on the toilet paper. My CRS had already diagnosed the fissure before, but this most recent retear is just not healing up right.

No never really found an answer to it. I just made sure that I didn't irritate the area in any way at all other than to quickly apply ointment, and it never happened again. I think that while you are in the process of healing, the skin is so fragile that it can easily open up a bit during that period of time. I would suggest irritating it as little as possible until it can close all the way and form some stronger skin.

So, if putting ointment on it causes it to bleed, maybe try applying ointment in a different way, with a q-tip?

I actually still have the same problem and it has been almost a year since my fistulectomy operation. I don't know what to do anymore.
