Naproxen 500 MG , is this ok?

Postby Goma » 10 May 2012, 20:53

I have totally messed up my ankle and my doctor prescribed this to try to get the swelling down. I told him about my fissure (I see a different doctor, a CRS for that) and asked if it would make me constipated. He said it should be fine. However, the medicine says side effects include constipation and diarrhea, neither of which I want with a fissure obviously. I'm wondering if I should take this or not because I really can't afford to go backwards with my fissure. On the other hand, I really can't afford to let my ankle get worse either. Hmmmm.... Image

Hi Goma...
Of course, any medication can affect the digestive system, and NSAIDS such as Naproxen do exert problems, but in most people this happens at higher doses taken over long periods of time, and most often affects the upper GI system. Are you able to tolerate Advil or Motrin? If you are, naproxen will be similar.
