Thanks in advance for your patience with me.
I'm 48 and have been dealing with occasional blood on tp and minor stinging off and on for about 2 years. I've been fortunate that it's never been more than a nuisance to me as I have had very little pain (outside of a bout with a fistula last year) and it usually only last a few days. Last year in April I saw a specialist (CR Surgeon) and he diagnosed an AF without having to use any instruments (just his digits). At the time he said any bouts of bleeding create a recommendation of a Colonoscopy from him. He didn't seem to pressure me to much, so since he saw the AF I didn't worry about it.
I just saw him again today to check out a episode I've been having the last month. A little more stinging than usual, but no biggie, I was just concerned that it wasn't go away after a few weeks. He was able to re-diagnose the AF, but then said I should get a Colonscopy and probably should have done it last year.
I'm now planning to do the Colonscopy, but I'm going to be changing jobs/insurance so it's best for me to financially and bureaucratically wait 3-4 months. It has me a little freaked out now that I'm waiting. I always figured he had to recommend the Colonoscopy as a CYA since he did see the AF and probably knew that was the source of the blood, but since he reiterated it today a little more stress has been caused and I've decided to do it before my 50th
Long story to get to my question. . Should I be freaked out about potentially waiting another 4 months, or is this more of a standard recommendation from the specialist and since he was able to diagnose the AF it's probably not a big deal, just standard operating procedure?
