YIKES! Re-tear. Risks of Miralax DURING pregnancy?

Postby notmuchfunanymore » 23 Jul 2012, 19:23

I'm keen to know, what are the risks of taking Miralax during pregnancy?
I WAS blood-free pain-free for 3.5 months, so I slowly started to take down the dose I was taking of Miralax because its not recommended during pregnancy. Now, for the first time in months, I have blood again and a little pain. I am terrified it will get worse like it had, and feel like I have to up the dose of Miralax again. I'm having anxiety attacks thinking about going through what I went through before... Will it ever heal? This is my 3rd re-tear in 6 months and I'm afraid scar tissue will slow/prevent healing. Is surgery an option during pregnancy?
I say a Hail Mary when I poo.

Not sure if this helps you, but I was prescribed Lactulose during pregnancy (for constipation caused by iron tablets, in my pre-fissure days).

have you had surgery or did you heal by miralax alone? I have heard miralax is safe even during pregnancy, but I want to reduce my dose too. Even doing so a little has caused an increase in my pain.

I have never used miralax, just lactulose. I had the surgery but in saying that, by the time I got to the surgeon we pretty much went straight for surgery on his recommendation. I was in too much pain to try the slow conservative route and was caring for a newborn too, so wanted the fix to be as quick as possible.
