What to do!!!!

Postby teacherel » 02 Aug 2012, 15:27

Hi guys,
Im in a bit of bother. Its been a while since I posted.. but Im back now.. Well just a little about me. I got an anal fissure 18 months ago after the birth of my daughter. Was in very bad pain up till Easter time (April) and I had an anal stretch as the surgeon felt this was the best option as it was a chronic fissure on the surface. I had horrific pain for 2 weeks after so bad I thought I was going insane nothing took away the pain, but it has eased off a bit now. I was back as the surgeon last week, Im still in pain everyday after BM for hours up to 8hrs, no bleeding just pain and burning and the cremas anoheal, rectogestic etc make it worse so he suggested I have LIS surgery. What to do!! I cant live like this Im only 31 my life is a misery, I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful daughter but Im misserable everyday. Should I just go for the surgery or take a chance that it will heal. I really want another baby but no way until this things heals... Advice Please.... Im from Ireland..

Obviously, only you can decide if LIS is right for you. However, I had LIS (and a fistula repair) 10 days ago and so far I feel great (knock on wood)! Having surgery was the best decision I ever made as it allowed me to get my life back. In fact, my only regret is that I didn't have surgery sooner.
In my opinion, if your CRS is recommending LIS, have the surgery and get your life back.

Can I ask was it very painful after the surgery. Cause after my stretch it was hell, for about 2 weeks, Im fairly strong minded but that pain just killed me. I lost a stone in 1 week from the pain. I know the LIS is probably the best solution cant live live life this.

Of course, everyone is different, but other than some occasional minor discomfort, I came home from the surgery pain-free and have been mostly pain-free ever since! And remember, I had TWO procedures - LIS and fistula repair (double the fun!).
