Diltiazem cream and Advil OK?

Postby thisunpleasant » 19 Aug 2012, 17:05

Hello all,
I have been using the Diltiazem cream for over a month and recently started taking Advil, which seems to help with the pain a bit. Was wondering if anyone has been told to avoid this combination? My doc said it was fine...just wanted to see what others were saying.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Sorry you are in pain, but this is a good place to share it!
It is a very low dose that you get in the cream, so if the doctor said it's fine to take Advil, then the doc is probably right. You can always check on drugs.com for reactions between drugs. A good place to use... This is the link for Advil - http://www.drugs.com/advil.html
All the best! Image

I was taking Acetaminophen instead of Advil and it worked really well.
One of my doctors said that the problem with Advil is that it could make bleeding worse. So if you're bleeding, you'd better ask your doctor before taking too much Advil. I don't think it has any negative interaction with Diltiazem, though.

Image Advil works well in relieving you from pain caused by the following medical condition: menstrual cramps, strains, sprains, arthritis, migraine, cold, sore throat, flu, dental pain and muscular pains.

Remember, there are ideal dosages for children and adult. It is best to consult your doctor to know the right dosage for you as it may also depend on the kind of medical condition you have.

Advil is ibuprophen. Tylenol is acetaminophen.
Really best to consult with your doctor before changing one to the other. There is a lot of information on the net about the two types of medication.
All the best :D
