Chocolate covered coffee beans?

Postby MonkeyButt » 24 Sep 2012, 16:18

Is this on the restricted list? I haven't been making any coffee, hardly ever have it. A couple times a year maybe. Chocolate... I snitch a few dark chips daily. I don't drink soda/pop. The tea I drink is herbal. They told me to cut out caffeine... but that's assuming I consume caffeine! I don't... the only thing would be the chocolate, and how much harm can a chocolate chip cookie or some dark chips do? Thing I am wondering is, about the covered coffee beans. Have you had these? Just eating them crunchy, covered in chocolate. If there was active caffeine in this, it would be a double whammy... but is there really caffeine in an "unground" and "unbrewed" coffee bean? Or is that a stupid question. I know nothing about coffee. All I know is, can't be too much caffeine in them... I'm not eating that many -- kcals will kill ya... but I don't feel any jolt at all, and being a non-drinker for the most part, you'd think I'd be hyper sensitive to it, not being accustomed. Anyone know if this treat is a really bad idea? Personal experiences?

Oh Monkeybutt,
You so need a treat - just in moderation that's all!!!
I only ever drink herbal/ fruit teas/ water because I don't actually like caffeine (well- it doesn't like me!) but in all the months I've been enduring these anal issues, my one vice is chocolate and it has not done me any harm at all! If anything it has more of a laxative effect on me, so more than happy to eat it. I really can't comment on the caffeine content in the chocolate coated coffee beans - I don't know! But I would say if you're not overdoing it, combining with a fissure friendly diet and not suffering in any way with your BM's, keep it up! Why not? Even us anal sufferers have to treat ourselves now & again. We deserve it!!
Good luck in your healing & enjoy the Chocolate coated coffee beans!!! :D

I only drink decaf coffee, chocolate covered espresso beans make me jumpy. Ive actually researched this years ago because of my sensitivity to caffiene. It takes about 30 beans to make a cup of espresso plus add dark chocolate and combined you're getting a little more than a cup. That's if you eat 30 beans(which I can do easily). I started making my own with decaf beans and I dip them in dark chocolate. Does not make me jittery. Unfortunately all things in moderation does not apply when you have a fissure. But we have to have a little fun!
