Right! I go off and on mine from time to time. I did read about SSRI's contributing to cataracts and also strokes. I asked my psychiatrist about it, and he said the increased risk of both of those side effects is small. I'm glad that I am not the only one needing an A/D. I hope that you have been feeling better!!
I'm not doing so bad atm, but can't get off the AD's just yet as this could cause side effects, I'm also a bit worried about the kind of emotional stuff that happens when I get a setback, it freaks me out, like you said, it's like PTSD in a way, just shows how powerful this painful affliction can be.
Well, when something affects our lives as much as a sore *ss does, then I don't think it is unreasonable that our minds and bodies have such an emotional reaction. We shouldn't be too harsh on ourselves. We should be our own best friends (read a book about that once). I'm still on mine (Lexapro) but only 10 mg daily. Some people take that amount 3 x's daily. If an A/D can help us cope, then so be it is my philosophy.
I'm taking Citalopram (Celexa) 20mg daily, I started off on 10mg but that didn't help me and my GP knew I was bad so upped the dose accordingly, it has helped me enormously so can't really knock it, as I said, just don't wanna be a "Forever user"
There are a lot of WORSE things that people can be taking than A/D's! I'm just happy that my Mayo GI doc suggested it for me even thought I was insulted when he did. I go down to 1/2 dose and then stop. It has never been a problem for me stopping it in the past.
