I am in my late thirties and have had issues with hemhorroids since my kids were born, but mainly the problem is one huge tag left by an external one. Until I found this forum, I have been at the mercy of doctors that either told me it was no big deal and to just live with it or another, a specialist, who seemed anxious to see how many procedures he could get out of my insurance. This forum has provided, first, just the knowledge that this isn't just me, that lots of others suffer with this. But also I have gained so much information that has enabled me to actually do something myself to help in healing.
A couple of months ago, though, I just about burned the skin off my anus with tea tree oil. It was raw and hurt so bad. Anyway, the point I am at now is this--the fissures are healing slowly, the tag is there but I can live with it if the fissures will heal. However, the itching around the fissures is practically unbearable. Here's what I'm doing to help--please respond with any wisdom of anything else I can do that would aid in healing and reduce this itching. It's particularly intense after a bath or bm.
I only use moist wipes now. After each and every bm and bath, I gently apply antibiotic cream to the fissures, then aloe vera with lidacaine to the entire area, and allow that to soak it and then I use maximum strength desitin over the whole area. I also take alleve to help with swelling and pain relief once a day. I don't use soap on that area either. I take fiber supplements every day, and my bm's aren't retearing the fissures that I can tell anymore. When the itching is too intense, I have been sitting on cryostat packs. However, I have stopped that as I think they may be drying out the skin around the fissure.
One more thing to throw in is that I am in the middle of perimenopause, and basically most of my own lubrication has been decreasing over the past couple of months. Have been to the ob/gyn and there's nothing abnormal there, but I read that this is one of the developments of late perimenopause, and it affects the anus as well. So, there you have it--I would so appreciate any wisdom or words of encouragement that there is normalcy at some point!
