It's baaaack.

Postby kyrehe » 01 Mar 2013, 21:49

So, I have been here before. Posted my story, and finally had found a GI doctor to help me. Removed two skin tags that were preventing my fissures from healing. She cauterized them, and things were so-so for a while.
Eventually, the fissures returned, so I went to see her again, and tried a low-dose of Nitro, because it makes me so ill. (Mixed with petroleum jelly and lidocaine.) It seemed to be getting better for a little while, and I was so relieved. I've been dealing with this for two years, now. Unfortunately, on a trip out of town, I developed a yeast infection and it caused some fissures to return. After contacting my doc and using anti-yeast Miconozole, the itching that came with the infection stopped significantly. (The itching was so bad I thought I had worms Image)
However, after all this time, the pain was coming back, and I was about out of Nitro. I called and visited her the other day, I had FIVE fissures, differing in size. WTF? She cauterized them, and it's been about eight days. I took a look because the itching is unbearable, and there's a bit of discharge. The skin around is bright red and irritated. I am worried it's another yeast infection. I applied some Miconozole around the outside, and continue to use Silver sulfadiazine on the area where the fissures had been. What could I possibly doing so wrong that these things just WON'T go away? I'm tempted to ask about botox, but my family is tight on money, and my insurance isn't helpful at all.
I'm really at a loss, I feel like the skin is constantly torn open, and raw. It's so disgusting, and my bf is very supportive, but I still fear I will never get better.

Do you take a stool softener like miralax?

I have IBS, so when I take stool softeners it usually just creates a day of severe diarrhea. I'm also constipated a lot, however. It's hard to balance how much fiber to take. (I'm going to be starting sitz baths back again ASAP, too. Haven't been able to since I moved into this apartment.)

Sorry to hear you have ibs.that must make fighting a fissure even harder.especially five of them! I see crs in four days. I hope I only have one. I think I can see a skin tag or something where the fissure is too. Image

The fact that my previous GI doc never noticed or fixed the skin tag I had that was covering a fissure is what kills me. I moved here and my first visit was immediate relief because she said that she would remove it. Whereas I was told previously that "that can't be done." Seriously, why did that doc have good reviews! He was a moron. Ughh.
I just want to feel better, it's really dragging me back into depression. I hope you are able to get the help you deserve and need! Don't be afraid to demand it lol

Sorry you're having such a hard time. I just wanted to say my CRS said not to remove skin tags unless they are causing significant problems. He told me that if a fissure is active your body may just develop another skin tag. I asked another doctor and they told me the same thing but he also added that if you're having problems healing a fissure you don't want to make another open wound in the area or more scar tissue. Scar tissue narrows the opening and makes you more likely to tear again. Keep using the nitro and keep the area dry. Hope you heal quickly. Suzy

Five fissures... wow. I've had enough trauma just dealing with one! Image
My only advice for IBS, which you're probably already doing, is drinking around 4litres of water per day. I have IBS and only ever get constipated if I dehydrate. It NEVER happens otherwise.

Don't worry about that mate. I have one and my CRS said it's the body's response to the wound and perfectly normal. It won't stop my fissure healing and should just flap around causing no harm. Having said this it seems to be disappearing as the fissure is healing. :)

Thanks for the support. I wonder if my doctors just had conflicting ideas, then.. Hrm. Either way, I had the skin tags removed (apparently one was quite large) and that was a while ago. I don't have any right now, so it's just such annoying irritation. The itching is unbearable, but I've taken my precautions to prevent a yeast infection. Given a pill and use Miconozole cream.. Then I have to use Silver sulfadiazine three times a day. That's the only reason I can't keep the area dry, is using this cream.. But it CAUSES the damn yeast infections, I swear. I can't win! I want a new butthole, fffff.

Kyrehe,
So did your doc tell you that a skin tag can prevent the fissure from healing??
Because my skin tag is massive and seems to be the only actual source of pain I have most of the time because it can get swollen. I asked my CRS to remove it and he said it wasn't necessary and wouldn't change anything!

Hi, just wondering why you're using the Silver sulfadiazine? It's prescribed for burns and one of the side effects from it is severe itching. Are you using it on your fissure? Just curious.
