Repeated cauterization

Postby thisunpleasant » 08 Mar 2013, 17:39

Hello,
I had my fissure cauterized once a couple months ago and I think it helped. My CRS said he could do it again if I wanted but curious if anyone has heard anything bad about repeated cauterizations?
Just wondering...
Thanks all

Silver nitrate is applied directly to the fissure, and it is extremely painful for a few seconds. The following week hurt more than usual but after that pain levels seemed to be lower (for me, at least)

When I had my tonsils chopped off, they cauterized the open wounds and it healed real fast even with eating everyday.why can't they do that to all fissures?

I would think that repeated cauterization might lead to excessive scar tissue, but it's just a guess.

Just had Botox on Monday, they cauterized my fissure also. Best I have felt in months! I didn't feel it since I was put under for the Botox, but that fissure hasn't caused issues since... And I had 3 BM today.

thisunpleasant thats interesting, your fissure most be superficial. I know about this type of cauterization but like other member say it can cause too much scar tissue to form.
So I wonder if yours is superficial as that will be easier to treat and monitor.
Is this is another way to treat internal fissures I take it before having surgery anytime.
