Popcorn?

Anybody try that ladyfinger popcorn? It's supposed to have less of a husk and easier on those with digestive problems.

It might be okay, if the popcorn is more tender. I've never heard of or tried ladyfinger popcorn. For me, though, I don't touch any kind of popcorn since a lot of pieces can be sharp and it's hard to chew it thoroughly. Plus, it irritates my throat and gets stuck in my teeth... so I can't imagine it would be good "on the way out." So I avoid it completely. Frankly, I don't miss it (I never was a huge popcorn fan).
Soft nuts like pecans and walnuts, on the other hand, I have no issues with, since those are easy to chew up thoroughly.
January 2013 - Diagnosed with fissure. Eventually turned chronic.
History of IBS and anxiety disorder, along with fear of using bathrooms other than my own caused it.
Tried Diltiazem, but eventually developed a rash.
LIS surgery scheduled August 26th.

In my opinion, I'd put popcorn right up there with roasted pumpkin seeds as foods to avoid. It was citrusel, lack of water and constipation after eating the whole pumpkin seeds which started me on the AF path Image

So I used to eat PC with all the goodies of salt and butter etc., and that gave me problems.
But now I enjoy plain PC as it's an excellent fiber for me and I have no problem passing it.
Need to break out the floss though.

Hello,
Its been basically disproven that popcorn causes problems in diseases like diverticulitis. See: mayoclinic.com/health/diverticulitis-diet/AN01934
Are the husks still formed as they pass in the stool? If so I guess that its possible they could cause ripping. Otherwise... well I'm skeptical!

Courtesy of Cedars-Sinai:
A fissure can occur from:
Passing a hard stool or prolonged episode of diarrhea
Lack of fiber in the diet and/or water with that fiber
Food that creates a rough passage through the digestive system, such as popcorn, nuts or tortilla chips.
Most fissures can heal by following good elimination habits.
Take plenty of water and fiber
Avoid foods such as popcorn, nuts or tortilla chips
Avoid constipating foods
Additionally, the following measures can help:
Warm baths (sitz baths)
Use a topical anesthetic cream
Avoid using hemorrhoid suppositories. These hard, bullet-like medications are painful to insert and sometimes tear the fissure even more.

I use to have problems eating nuts covered with salt. Since I switched to plain nuts, no problems, no fissures.
