Juicing?

Postby DynaMike » 10 May 2012, 12:27

Hello,
Has anyone here tried juice fasting to help heal anal fissures? I watched a show on the health benefits of going on 5 or 10 day juice fasts, and wondered if anyone has had any experience with this.

DynaMike,
I can't do it because I'm too underweight and my digestive system would never tolerate all that juice anyway. In theory it makes some sense for a short term trial. The only thing is, the body needs to have adequate amounts of nutrients, in particular, complete protein, when it is healing a wound. If you could find someone who has some expertise in fasting in the context of wound healing, it could be worth exploring. I've been looking into supplementing with what is called an elemental diet. High enough in calories and also in all the essential nutrients, but no residue for the digestive tract to process.
I like the sound of this one, but it is really pricey...

juicing is amazing...all those extra enzymes and nutrients
there is an enzyme in pineapple called bromelain ...its an enemy of anal fissures and scarring it eats up fibrin and gets the blood flowing
