Putting off surgery a bad idea?

Postby thisunpleasant » 23 Jun 2013, 21:36

Like many folks here, I am hesitant to have the LIS.
But I'm wondering if there are advantages to having it done sooner than later.
My biggest concern is whether or not the surgery will be less effective if I wait a long time to have it.
I've been dealing with this fissure for over a year now...
Has anybody's CRS addressed this?Just curious...
Thanks.

A flexi-sigmoidscopy or a colonoscopy (depending on your internal system) will be a good start to know the depth/width/length and the number/exact location of the fissure/s.
LIS sometimes fail, if the fissure is long.  So a proper step-by-step diagnosis will help to gain insight and understanding of what kind of procedure will be right for you.
Colonoscopy rules out IBS and other serious conditions, which flexi-sig won't detect.  However, if you think that your digestive tract is absolutely normal (based on your poop consistency/shape/frequency/color and intestinal signs like for example, no abdominal pain), then you may be successful with just a flexi-sig.
Your job is to find a doctor who uses a good/advanced imaging center and provides you with every detail including colored pictures or images.  This material may help in preparing you for a second opinion, if necessary.
Good Luck!
