How long can you safely use nitro cream?

Postby mbs1977 » 28 Jul 2013, 19:17

Was prescribed nitro cream in early June. I used it for three weeks straight twice a day as recommended. Seemed to work well but I can tell my AF has returned or just wasn't completely heeled. Any advice and how long is it safe to use nitro cream. I have started it back up and it is helping again. Did I not use it long enough the first time?

I too have been using nitro for a while..a total of seven months...I wonder if our bodies ever get used to the nitro to the point where it doesn't work?

I think you use it for the full course or 8 weeks ,try to get the correct dose of 2.5 cm in and around the area ,
I think you do get used to it the headachs get better ,
I believe long term it should be ok ,but with me it did cause some irritation maybe a little burning sensation on around the 6-8 week mark

HI every one, My Gastro, doctor(well the pharmacist had to mix it) gave me a compound of Nitro, 0.2 % with 5% xylocaine.
She also gave me 3 refills, so I guess it's OK for me to use in the long term. I don't get any headaches or dizzy.
At my next appointment I'm going to ask for a stronger doze , if she approves.
take care..Image

Yes, you need to use the creme for the whole 6-8 weeks, even if you feel better!
I have been using nitro for nearly 1/2 year now without major sideeffects.
- Fissure developed in Jan '13
- Started rectogesic in Feb '13 and diltiazem Apr '13.
- Got botox Jun '13
- Healed by Okt '13, although I still had some irritation for about a year.
- New fissure April '22, healed June 2022
- New fissure 24. December 2023

per bun jacket potatoes have more fibre in them than brown rice alot of ppls fissure come back when they stop using the cream because they stop with the high fibre diet
