Protruding Skin Tag Surgery?

Postby CanadaHell » 24 Oct 2013, 20:22

I forgot to mention that i have a "protruding" skin n tag outside od my anus, it is round and now thd size of a small grape. Both family and procto docs don't seemed to be concerned with it. I find it gross, anything anyone can "suggest" to how to get rid of it would be appreciated? What ir the procedure?

Your skin tag should reduce in size as your fissure heals. From what I've read here, people who've had it removed surgically have a lot of pain from that cut. It may be best just to leave it (though, size of a grape does sound big). Keep it clean, try not to wear tight clothes that will irritate it.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

It will shrink eventually don't worry.
I had tag removal.... And that lead to me tearing and getting the fissure. I would urge anyone not to have any skin in that delicate fragile area sliced off!!!

I left it up to my doctor when going into Botox, and he decided to take it off. It resulted in four days off from work and some draining from the site of the tag removal. After the standard 10-14 days, I didn't have much pain from the area.

I did same left it up to surgeon when I went for lis & fissurectomy. She decided to take it off best decision. I had 4 stitches where tag was removed it was huge. I was really nervous but it caused no problems. It was sore but really not too bad at all.
I'm really delighted she decide to remove it as it was covering my anus & clean up was hard.

Yes, I am going to ditto Edel on the hygiene. That was my primary concern about keeping it. It was getting pretty hard to clean the area.

Hi CanadaHell, Thanks for bringing this up. I have 6 skin tags, yuck, most of which are quite small and never bother me. Two of them are just awful and get inflamed if I have a bowel movement when slightly constipated. This, of course, is a situation one wants to avoid, and unfortunately, I now have my second fissure -- first one over with -- thanks to severe constipation that snuck up on me in September. The skin tags and new fissure are acting up.

My CRS is talking about cutting the tags off if/when he does LIS.

So here's my big question: In circumstance like this I believe the tags will be literally "cut off" not more detailed as in a hemorrhoidectomy. I've heard that when this happens the tags can do a number of nasty things like:

* Grow back

* Cause internal scarring

Comments anyone?

I have found that in the year that I've had these tags, my swelling/discomfort has really come a long way in getting better [before this awful relapse.] When I first had the skin tags, and my first fissure together most of my tags were inflamed for long periods of time. So maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel?

My surgeon removed mine as well when performing LIS, it was pain and bled a lot, I hope it was not done at that time. But now I think getting those fixed is good, once and for all, hopefully :)

Seeing my family doc this morn. Pain free last night after a few hrs. Daytime "miserable" as I have various BM's throughout day.
